The two universities have announced a home and away series for 2018 & 2019. We will visit Knoxville for their opening game in 2018 and they will play in Columbus the following year. Don
That should be a great matchup even in 10 years. I have to say that I commend Tennessee for playing at least one tough non-conference game a year and you never see the I-AA teams on their schedule although I do think they pick up Western Kentucky next season. Still, with future dates against Ucla, Oregon, Oklahoma, Nebraska, UNC, and now Ohio State, you can't say they back down from the competition. Games in the past against California, Notre Dame, Ucla, Syracuse, and even Washington way back when further prove the point. On the other hand, Ohio State never shies away from a good football game either. USC this year as well as the games against Texas in the past are and should be real classics.
Ditto what Krebsie said....great job by both AD's. Always nice to see some of our friends from the South come up for a visit. Halley's comet is a more frequent visitor.....though I will admit that the Vols unlike the majority of their conference brethren have been fearless travelers. Good for them. Good for the game....
The Tennessee stud was long and lean The color of the sun and his eyes were green He had the nerve and he had the blood And there never was a hoss like the Tennessee stud
I like it, frequently I lament that with FSU on our schedule every year and Miami wanting to be on our schedule as often as possible that the Gators don't get in a position to have these kind of match ups. Of course the way FSU is going right now they might take the place of one of our patsies and perhaps the Gators could schedule some games like this.  Congratulations to both schools. I might like to go to the one in Knoxville, but I'll be 81 by then.
Wasn't the Tennessee Stud disallowed from Vol athletics and a key player in the Alabama/Means scandal? I think he's dead now though!
What Bill said.....ad nauseum... I personally would be in favor of dropping FSU so Florida could schedule some interesting intersectional games around the country. I have said before that I would be more impressed with Tenn if they played Memphis every season and the Tigers were a perennial NCAA power and then they found room in the athletic budget to do home and home with other powers as well. I think Tenn does the minimum and other SEC schools like Alabama and LSU should absolutely follow suit because the Tide and Tigers have no annual, highly competitive out of conference rival on their schedule. So congrats to Tenn but I would expect no less.
MCG, There must be something about you that requires you to throw some else under the bus to try to make UF look better. Calm down, UF's record for the last 20 years is as good as any school in the country. Now on to my team. While Alabama doesn't have an instate competitive out of conference rival (I guess you are referring to Miami on UF's schedule), we do try to schedule some competitive teams out of conference. Besides Clemson as our opening game this upcoming season, we played a home and home with UCLA in 2000 and 2001, in 2002 and 2003 we played a home and home with Oklahoma. Now we played Hawaii in 2003 and 2006. I know, I know it was just Hawaii but hey some said they should have been in the BCS MNC game last year because they were undefeated. Oh yeah and we played FSU also last year. FSU was having a bad year but how do you who will be having a bad year when you schedule them, I mean Miami was not very good last year either. We played this schedule even though we were under the claoud of NCAA sanctions. In 2010 and 2011 we have Penn State scheduled, and Ga Tech in 2012 and 2013. So anyway I know you are proud of your team but at least we left the state to play these teams and we will continue to do so apparently. 8)
My memory was obviously short on Bama Kp. I did forget about FSU last year and the Oklahoma games I have definitely forgotten about so my bad....I guess Bama has made a recent effort although I did remember that years ago Bama also made that effort to schedule some pretty decent competition OOC. On Hawaii....UF plays them opening game this year along with Miami and FSU.
It's too bad UF is so locked into playing the other state schools in Fla. I hope that this never happens to Texas, of course the other state schools of note in Texas are conference rivals. But still it's nice to have the ability to get out of the region for a OOC game. Like ND or Ohio State. The next 6 years have home/home with UCLA, Ole Miss, and Arkansas. Most alums I know like those games, granted none of them are elite teams (at least at this writing who knows by the time the games are played.
I feel the same way to be sure. I would enjoy seeing Florida play a home and home with other conference powers but it seems like it's not in the cards with FSU annually and now Miami getting back in the mix.
