Buckeyes get off to excellent start with a win over NC Asheville here in Columbus last night, winning 84-66. Senior point guard Jamar Butler had an excellent evening and the team shot a torrid 56%. One of best evenings shooting the ball since pre season Big Ten. Their center 7'7" and 360 pounds was a load in and around the basket. Minnesota lost to Maryland. Looks like we will play the winner of California New Mexico on Monday evening. Game will be in St John Arena as Value City arena is book for a Springsten concert. Don
Not well at all. I watched most of the first half. He's more of a spectacle than a contributing player. He's slow, often way behind the other players coming up the floor. Except for his blocked shots, which were interesting to see, he was not a factor.
California wins a close one over New Mexico 68-66. We will play them Monday evening here in Columbus. (St John Arena) Don
How about a Fla-OSU final Don? Seems appropriate.... Hey....watched Florida blow out former Michigan coach Steve Fisher's SDSU squad last night. ESPN2 kept showing Urban Meyer and Bill Bellichick chumming it up together at the game. I guess ole Bill of Patriot fame was in town because UF opened spring practice yesterday. It was great pub for Meyer.....or is it the other way around?
Yeah I guess it is great pub. for Meyer if you consider consorting with perceived cheaters as great pub. haha. Just kidding, MCG.
MCG, You never know do you! (Grin) There are some pretty decent teams left that should provide some good basketball. Granted we all would have preferred the Big Dance Tournament! Don
Well now you all know the gators are gonna make "everybody" proud and win their 3rd title in 3 years!!!!!!!!!!!! In the NIT!
its all depending on budinger...if he's on we'll go far if he's not it'll be sad to see. Bayless, Wise and Hill are consistent offensively and Budinger is the inconsistent one. Hill needs to stay out of foul trouble though.
Gators have one more win in the NIT than I think we would have gotten in the Big Dance this year! Now wait until next year.
Buckeyes win in old St John Arena against California 73-56. We will play instate Dayton Wednesday in the Quarter finals here in Columbus. Dayton will pose for some problems for us. Proximity of the two schools should draw a large crowd. Don
What other school can go back to it's "old" arena that seats 13K fans!! Not many I'll bet. What is St. Johns used for most of the time? Terry
Terry, St John arena is used for other varsity sports like Volley Ball, wrestling, etc. Everyone likes the venue, but seat licenses were sold to pay for the all purpose arena. That in turn means a lot of so called fans are not into the game and very little noise for the home team. Don
Florida posts a 13 point road win over the team everyone thought should have been in the NCAA tournament.....Az St. The young Gators are now starting to grow up and play with a fire and intensity they did not exhibit all year. It looks very good for next season for these guys the way they are maturing.
