Honestly remembering how I was in highschool, this is an amazingly accurate accessment!
Me too Tom! When I graduated from High School and headed to the University of Florida I entered Florida as an 18 year old with a maturity level of about 14!
You know Bill, sometimes things happen for a reason. My last high school “sweetheart” left me because of my being a jerk in my Junior/Senior years. That girl was married and divorced twice in the six years after high school it took for me to finally meet Cindy. 25+ years later and I now realize that I was a jerk for a reason. It bought me a much happier future.
I don't know about you guys, but I was KEWL in HS. Weejuns, Gant Shirt (button down), Kahkis. No duck tails, or greaseball hairdo!! Just Kewl!
Same thing that happened to the rest of us who went to HS 40+ years ago. We got old. Heck, I was once on American Bandstand. Is that cool or what? I was one heckuva dancer. Not any more.
Nah...that's not it. I know some pretty cool guys (and gals) that will say they were very "uncool" in HS.
There's no chance you're talking about yourself is there? Remember... I've seen your high school photos, and for your sake, I hope you ARE considered "cool" NOW, cause you definitely weren't cool back when you married mom. But hey... I don't even have to go back 40 years... only 10... to realize I was far from cool. I bet you just LOVED those phases I went through growing up didn't you? Baggy pants - Tattoos - Pierced ears, etc? I can't remember... did you ever have a pocket protector?
HaHa. Actually yes. If I remember correctly, he did have one of those. And of course he had to walk to school uphill in the snow both ways.
And I raised a smartass. Here is my computer with Terry's photo on the screen...note the tools of the trade; Note that one is the premium brand...Post...just like Terry's; And yes...it does have a belt loop; Wiseguys! PS...not cool when I married Mom? What's that imply about her? Methinks her little boy is in trouble when I share that post with her. 8)
I had a Pickett metal slide rule. I thought it was the coolest thing when I first got it, but I never wore it on my belt. In the story boards for Animal House, Stork (who says "Well, what the hell are we supposed to do, ya moron?") added a finger clip to his slide rule so he could quick-draw it like a gunfighter.
And I never had a pocket protector...well, not many of them anyway. But I never wore them...well hardly ever, anyway. But I didn't wear them with white socks...very often anyway.
In your defense Dad... you were the first person I knew to own an Apple... and look how cool it is now to own an Apple. I still can't believe you opted for a Treo over an iPhone...
