This is just an FYI so folks know. I spend a fair amount of time lurking on the Skybox on my cell phone when I'm not near my computer (I can't post but I can browse). I don't know if anyone else does this. The screen, of course, is pretty small, and it involves a lot of scrolling to get to the bottom of long pages. When folks add graphics to their signature line, it takes up quite a bit of space and time, especially if someone with a graphic has posted note after note after note. The little gator Bill has and the Tennessee flag on Tom's are practically tradition now and I wouldn't expect them to remove them. They take up about half a screen, top to bottom, on my phone...but we'd all miss them if they were gone. George keeps putting cool graphics in his sig line...the latest being the NASCAR thingy...that graphic fills my entire screen. If he has five or six posts in a thread I keep scrolling past that speed limit sign over and over. There are other really cool ones...the tribute to AJNJ comes to mind. I'm not asking anyone to take them down, or proposing any kind of "rule" like we had to do on avatar size...I just want folks to be aware that the purpose of the avatar is to give you your "identity", if you will, and that overly large signatures, whether a graphic or a long motto, have to be scrolled past again and again (and I think they probably fill the pages up faster.) Those of you who use graphics...keep doing so but don't make them any bigger. Those of you who don't use graphics...don't start.
Too bad we don't have the capabilty to ignore the sigs. Over on Scout it's one of your options when you set up the way you want to view things, can can't opt out of viewing the avatars but you can opt out of viewing the sigs. Which I have since some of them get ridiculous.
I cannot refuse your request. However, one day I may call on you to provide a service for me.... Jif, write these guys names down. 8)
