David Whilhelm is going to endorse Obama. I imagine Bill is pissed, and I saw another article that he's pissed that Bill Richardson (Gov New Mexico) has not endorsed Hillary. Supposed told him "What 2 cabinet positions weren't enough for you?". She's really going to need a big win in Texas. Obama Endorsement
I have ambivalent feelings re Mrs. Clinton. I would like her to win since McCain would win against her. About 30% of Obama dems said they would vote for McCain if she were on the ticket. Nationaly she is even with McCains in the polls. But she is the one who has come out for national health care which was soundly thrashed in her first attempt as first lady to Bill. It is not going to rescue her this time. Obama will win. McCain is trailing by 6 pointsto Obama nationally at this time and is even with Hillary. Mentioned by me before are my two priorities, SC oppointments and victory in Iraq. I know where McCain stands on this. Hillary and Obama want us to tell our enemies when we are going to quit. Huck has the support of the evangelicals. God bless them. Eventually, Barack will have to tell us where he stands on the issues. I know all about hope and change.
Apparently, Chelsea has been out campaigning for Hillary. At one rally in Cal. she was introduced to a soldier who had recently returned from Iraq. She told him that he must feel lucky to be home and that he must have seen many things in Iraq that scared him. He replyed "M'am, there's only three things that scare me now, Osama, Obama, and Yo mamma."
I think it is o.k. for Chesea to support her mama. Shuster on MSNBC called her a pimp for being on the campagn trail. MSNBC and who is that guy who is frothing at the mouth about Bill O'Rielly? Can't remember his name. Leave the children out of it. Saying that, her mama is done.
Chelsea is 27 years old... hardly a child. Much worse has been said by Democrats about prominent GOP family members. Not to mention awful things said about them by left leaning news people and celebrities. I would not have used those words but this is what happens when you deal yourself into campaign politics.
You mean it wasn't a true story? I'm shocked. In other news, Romney is endorsing McCain. Do I smell a deal for the VP slot?
I've tended to not post in this forum much because it always seemed to me we all just took our position then a lot of insults were exchanged. However this topic is really interesting and obviously a lot of you are putting a lot of thought into this. Like several of you Obama has interested me. I am for sure pulling for him over Hillary. I don't know if he can really bring change to the atmosphere in Washington or not. I clearly remember George Bush saying the same thing and he was always able to work with the other party when Governor of Texas. He sure wasn't able. Obama really gives uplifting speeches, but I don't know enough specifics yet. I did hear a rumor that he wanted to triple minimum wages. That isn't realistic in my opinion. I believe that I can support McCain but have to admit that I really want to hear more about Obama.
Bad news for the "Get out now" crowd. Reported today by AP that Iraq met a key benchmark by scheduling an election in October. One of three laws. one an amnesty for thousands of detainees in Iraqi jails, the other covering budjet matters. Sunnis, who sat out the 2005 election, could claim a much stronger role. IMOP, the scheduling of the election in October could be a factor in the coming election. Both Obama and Clinton have espoused a time line for abandoning Iraq. McCain strongly supported the surge of 30000 troups which have done a magnificent job in bringing about the current epifhany where Iraqies are united in fighting militant insurgents and Al Quaida. General Petraeus, who was insulted by Hillary, in efect calling him a liar during Senate hearing, has used Sadam's own battle plans in taking controll of strategic positions around Bahdad formerly occupied by insurgents and Al Quaida. The situation in Iraq is very fluid and it will be some time for the Iraquis to develop into a stable political state, but the posibilities are enouraging. Also, I think that the term "Iraq War" is now a misnomer. The stuggle there now is between the Iraquies and some remenents of militant insurgents and Al Quida with our support. Bush was right re the surge and McCain was one of few who supported him.
This morning's New York Times has a lengthy piece about how Gore and others are working to prevent problems which may arise at the anticipated brokered convention, since neither candidate is expected to have the necessary delegates to win outright.
