Not sit out a year. They say it's not fair for him to have to sit out when it was clear that he didn't fit the new coaches plans. I seriously doubt that the NCAA would rule in his favor, if they did it would in some ways open pandoras box. I don't think they could rule in his favor and create a new extremely narrow and open to intepretation rule that you could transfer if the new coach runs a different system than you were recruited. Mallet to appeal NCAA rule
I would be shocked if the NCAA granted the waiver. There seems to me to be too many subjective assertions here. For example, how can you prove that Mallet would be at a disadvantage playing for MI without his even taking the field? There are no public comments from RR supporting Mallet's assertion, and I can't imagine that RR would be inclined to get involved, except possibly to say that he would be given a chance just like any other student-athlete on the team. I agree with Terry. Looks like a "slippery slope" situation.
BUT, the NCAA can do whatever it wants to do. I would not even try to predict what they will do. They may decide in his favor today and against the next guy. I don't think the NCAA believes in precedent.
