I'm not buying that by starting in Michigan's offense that Pryor would hurt his chances of going to the NFL.
I think Rich is going to find out quickly that the Detroit sports writers are a little different than the writers in West Virginia.
The point of the article is well taken although I am having trouble on short notice compiling a list of notable NFL QBs from Ohio State. Running the spread really offers no preparation for the NFL. It is a much more exciting offense than anything run on Sundays and part of what makes the college game so much fun to watch. I think the latest casualty may well be Tim Tebow. There is nothing about what they run in Gainesville that will help him at the next level but that's where he will probably head after next season.
George, I've said that Tebow will leave after next season but he has said numerous times that he is going to stay all four years. I am hopeful but wouldn't bet the farm.
Some guys do stay for the 4th year...Peyton Manning did, Brady Quinn did, Rick Mirer did, Glenn Dorsey did, Ricky Williams, Roy Williams, and Cedric Benson did and I'm sure there are others. Everybody says it's not the smart thing to do because you can get injured but as college fans I know we all appreciate it when they do and understand when they don't. As far as being prepared for Pro football, they mainly need guys with strong arms, who can learn the offense. Look at all the QB's who weren't anybody in college, including Tom Brady, who went from who he to starters. Tony Romo, David Garrard immediately come to mind.
I agree Terry, Vince Young is a starter Terry and I don't think he was playing in a pro style offense either, also Alex Smith of San Francisco. Tebow has a strong arm and is a smart kid, if he is not injured in college my opinion is that he is a first round draft choice.
