    That's interesting and hopeful.

    Last year Bernie Machen who is President of the University of Florida was pushing for a playoff. When he went to an SEC meeting the rest of the members convinced him to back off and he did. Now another SEC President is proposing a playoff.

    I hope Machen joins him in pushing and we could finally get somewhere.

    I think there was an article posted here about the Big 10, Pac 10 and Rose Bowl being against a playoff and the President of Ohio State stating emphatically he was opposed.

    What was interesting in this proposal is that Adams proposed that if one of the Bowls (Rose?) did not want to go along then another one could take their place. Wow, I think he just threw the gauntlet down to the Rose Bowl.

    This makes sense, there would be 4 teams standing and two more weeks wold give us a winner.

    Sounds really good to me.

    I think it should be kept in mind if you think this is critical of the Big Ten that Detroit is huge Big Ten territory. This writer has covered the Big Ten for many, many years. He is not writing for a newspaper in Orlando, Birmingham, Los Angeles....etc.

    Maybe there is some momentum building to include either 4 or 8 teams in a playoff. I think that 8 would be better than 4 but 4 would at least be a good start.
