Some Guinness was spilled on the barroom floor
when the pub was shut for the night.
Out of his hole crept a wee brown mouse
and stood in the pale moonlight.
He lapped up the frothy brew from the floor,
then back on his haunches he sat.
And all night long you could hear him roar,
    'Bring on the goddam cat!'

I have to dido BDR with Dennis Dixon...Even hurt he deserves it more...Lets even give him responsiblity for the loses the ducks got with him out. That would equal 4, the same as the beloved Tebow. So that would be a wash...lets see he had victories against 3 teams that finished in the top 25 (usc, asu, south florida) and tebow had 2 (kentucky, georgia). How about the non-conference schedule Tebow (Western Kentucky, Troy, Florida Atlantic, Florida State), Dixon (Houston, Fresno State). So Tebow got 4 gimme games compared to Dixons 2. Comparing stat totals is difficult with Dixon out but he had a better per rush attempt than Tebow, Dixon has a better completion percentage. Not to menchin more than 1/3 of Tebow touchdowns came in those four cream puff games. Also the difference in yardage that "favors" Tebow came in those weak games. Bottomline even taking account for his teams losses in his absence Dixon had better wins, equivalent "losses", tougher non-conference and all in all should still have won the heisman.

Ok Arizona, I am at a loss as to when Florida State became a gimme game even as they are not as good as they used to be.

However If I counted right after I put up the last count there were two votes for Dixon and one more for Tebow. That would give Tebow 6 votes and Dixon 2 votes.

Gator Bill I think you anwered your own question as to when FSU became a gimme game...."Florida State became a gimme game...they are not as good as they used to be. "...My comment was based on this years non-conference schedule, not on the decades in the past.

Arizona, FSU is surely not as good as in the past, but I think you downgraded them way to far to call them a gimme.

No matter, thanks for your analysis and input.

Matt Ryan lost all chance at the Heisman in an ugly loss to FSU at home.

They may not be what they used to be but they are by no means a gimme.

With due respect to the opinions of my west coast friends, Dixon lost his opportunity for the Heisman when he went down with the injury. It's an unfortunate break, but that's the way it is.

This has nothing to do with Dixon, but I'm reminded of how Adrian Peterson lost his chance for the Heisman when his season ended because of a hot dog flip into the end zone which resulted in a broken collarbone.
