SMU....June Jones has made no bones about it that he think Hawaii needs to bump up their commitment to the football program. I read someplace that the recruiting budget is around 50K, that's not much when you fly kids to Hawaii for visits. The Ponies have also talked to Larry Coker (bleah!) and Franchiphony, but both those retreads would be bad hires. If SMU is ready to make the commitment to big time football again then June Jones is the guy they need to hire.

Either way I hope they don't fall for Fran or Coker..both of them are losers.

<t>should have offered the world to Johnson. They are screwed now. Unless they luck out with a great coordinator... there's not a lot out there.</t>

Johnson would have been a fool to take the SMU job, Ga Tech is a much better job. But Jones is running a shoe string operation at Hawaii and he might be able to leverage SMU vs Hawaii and improve his current sitaution. If he can't and SMU is willing to commit then SMU could be as good or better job than TCU or certainly any of the CUSA schools. But they have to make a commitment.
