You're the smart one Joel...warm and snug at home! How many idiot have their shirts off and their wool caps on??? That always cracks me up, it seems like it's more common in Giants Stadium with the Jets/Giants fans though, oh yeah the lunatic Philly fans as well. lol.. :) :)

    George...

<t>You and I are on the same page here as usual on my beloved Irish. I cannot deal with the Rose colored head in the sand ones that cannot face reality. Reality is this past season was an utter embarrassment in all areas. The only thing that keeps me going is this class coming in and Charlie has to know he has to get the program back to be at least respectable next year and good in 09 or IMO he is gone. That is the last thing we need to see is another freakin coaching change.</t>

I won my FF league with an 11-3 record and am now in the playoff's first round.

I hemmed and hawed and watched weather report after weather report and have now made the executive decision to start Brett Favre in a 70 degree dome over Tom Brady in the rain/sleet and wind of Foxboro.

Tom has been The Man for my beloved team the Swamp Monsters so I really hesitated to bench him and he may make make me sorry I did so.

At least I am playing my first game free agent pick-up WR Wes Welker in case the Pats passing game is still on.

Speaking of free agents for the Swamp Monsters one of the best free agent acquisitions I have ever made was picking up Earnest Graham about 8 games ago. The former University of Florida running back has been a Fantasy stud and has been that extra dimension I needed to catapult to the league championship.....especially considering the disappointing ex-Vol Travis Henry who was a high draft pick for me.

    Ooops...another topic has been "Gator'd".... 8)

I think Charlie has seen the light, this season was painful for all but it might have been the best thing for Charlie.

It started last year when he learned the hard lesson that HS recruits lie to you, he had several "silent" commits who turned on him. He now knows that if they aren't willing to say it out loud then they aren't commited to you. He also knows that even if they say it out loud you have to keep stoking thier egos by continuing to recruit them.

His approach to recruiting this year reflects that and the results are amazing, I can't even imagine what this class would be like if we had a better year on the field.

There is a lot of young talent on this team, we should be a lot better next year. Clausen is finally healthy and we have better numbers just about everywhere so competition should be fierce to get on the field. I don't know who amongst the incomming freshman can make an impact but some of those DL's will get their shots early I'll bet.

Looking back on this past season I don't see with the schedule, talent and inexperience how we could have won more than 5 games and that would probably include an upset.
The major problem has been for years a below average defense. With the exception of Trevor Laws our front 7 has been flat out awful. The talent problem did not start with Charlie but His first 2 classes did not provide adequate solutions. His solution was to replace Minter with Brown and it's obviously paying huge dividends. The fact is, we're probably at least 2 seasons away from seeing a big improvement in the D.
The biggest improvemen next year HAS to be in the O line. We have some good skill position player although WR is still questionable. We're going to have to return to what was successful the first 2 yrs. under Charlie, outscoring the opposition. That will be good for 8 wins. It won't be until our defense is shut-down nasty that we'll be able to stand toe to toe with the real big boys. 2009 might be a season early for a BCS Bowl.

Nice analyses, Terry and Gip. I respectfully submit, Gip, that I could see 6 or 7 wins "at best" this past season, but who's really counting at this point?

By the way, I always keep an exra pair of rose-colored glasses handy in case friends like George or Larry want to try on a pair just to see how they fit.

The biggest improvement next year is our schedule. With this schedule we should win seven games and qualify for a second or third tier bowl.

14 minutes to go in Foxboro and Brady has 2.6 fantasy points and MCG looks like a brilliant manager of the Swamp Monsters!

Favre just hit Jennings on a long TD pass.....yes!

What second grade FF league let you have both Brady and Farve as QBs?

10 player league of mostly truck drivers....a very tough league Gipper.

They are RB focused and Favre was terrible last year and poorly rated going into the draft this season. I lucked out with him using my 15th round draft pick.

Well I don't know about Larry but I don't need glassses, rose -colored or otherwise. I see fine. 8)

Some of you guys interpret criticism and questioning as insubordination, I guess. Like Charlie is Captain Blye or something.

I stand by my critique that the 2007 Irish were the worst college football team, for one season, that I have ever seen. Charlie takes credit for a lot of it.

Geez, they won 3 games and lost another in OT. If that's the worst team you've ever seen, you don't get out enough.

Not at all, George. Step back a bit and look at what you are saying. This is a bulletin board, full of opinion and debate.

You expressed your opinion on a topic that you and I and several others are passionate about. and I disagreed. Maybe a few other people disagree with you, but no one has even come close to suggesting that you are wrong for expressing your opinion or that you are "insubordinate". We feel your pain, but we choose to approach the situation from a different perspective. You're a big boy. You know that if you express your opinion in a public forum, you open yourself to contrary opinions. That's what is happening here, no more, no less.

You may be frustrated that only one or two others seem to agree with you and that seemingly the "majority" of the pro-ND folks here tend to disagree with you. If so, that's a whole different issue from the picture you've painted with the above quote. You need to realize it's not personal. If anything, I respect the way you feel, and I appreciate you giving me the opportunity through your participation in the conversation to express the way I feel.

    Peace, Brother?

About f***ing time you stuck up for your capo di tutti capi, Jif. Although, Jif, go easy. On a scale of 1-10, this South Shore interfamily dispute seems about a .5 to 1. Someone might get a plate of linguini with white clam sauce thrown at them but I don't think this will blow up to the point where a body is found in a dumpster(s) or something like that.
