In the recent years of the gators major sports programs there has been little sucess. They have failed in football and basketball. They are always ranked preseason in the top 10 to 25 but they never live up to winning anything. They are overatted in the rankings and never live up to their ranking, plus there only championship in football was there one and ONLY 10 years ago. There last football season was a failure considering they are the "GATORS" and that they only come out of the "SWAMP" alive. They played in the Outback bowl in a narow and controversial win against Iowa. This year in basketball they were ranked 2 for about 30 seconds until they lost 2 straight games to unranked teams followed by another 4 losses later in their schedule to unranked teams, excluding tennesse who was only ranked so high because the beat the "almighty GATORS." Let's face it the gators are horrible against "good" teams and are horrible in the clutch, and in the tournaments.
Welcome LittleGonzo, it's Eric the lacrosse player, right? I see you've inherited your dads love of the Gators and hyperbole.
Yawn, but welcome aboard anyway if you are really Gonzo's son. And if you are Gonzo with a new ID welcome back. On to some interesting business. Gator Bill
Welcome LittleGonz! No way do I fall into the trap of voting on the Gators during baseball season. The SEC types maul each other so badly, that there is no need for Irish fans to toss fuel on the fire. We're not disinterested, just holding our ammunition for future eventualities... ..............JO'Co
This thread makes me think that Roe v Wade was not a bad decision after all...... and explains why many intelligent animals eat their young...... 8)
And the Gator hasn't voted but has voted now. Looks pretty much that there is agreement across the board except for the author of the topic.   Gator Bill
The post is without merit so response from me has been unwarranted. UF's sports programs are on solid ground and if anything the football program has not only survived the abrupt exit of Spurrier but is now in position to thrive under Meyer. You can't discount the good job Zook did in keeping enough talent on hand to get UF to bowl games in each of his three seasons. Baseball and basketball are very solid and it looks like Donovan's Gators may be getting their mojo back in time for the NCAAs. Arkansas was a hot team on a roll and I think they will be a tough out in the NCAA tourney.
One of the consensus top 2, 2006 football recruiting classes in the country and a sure to be preseason top 5 ranking in 2006, CWS finalist in '05, and now an SEC Basketball Tournament Championship for the 2nd year in a row...going 4-0 over Kentucky over the last two seasons. Yep....yesiree....this Gator program is on a decline allright..
