BTW, Gator bias? Couldn't tell ya anything about it. Just a proud Cornhusker here who has always used this board for entertainment and IMHO, good natured chest pounding when it comes to success for my boys.

I'll leave the justification process to the rest of you as that I have managed my time around the progression of my second career and the upbringing of my 2 sons.

I don't see the need nor have the time to bring a radical sports snob attitude to what should be a good ol' boys spot on the internet for some good old fashioned ribbin' and good natured trash talkin' (If that's the persons choice) when it comes to sports.

I use my Cornhuskers as a source of pride and Identity for my home state. I question the motives of other college fans on this board.

Hell, Jiffy is doing it right IMO. Just enjoying his sports teams success and riding the quips and barbs of us on the board in a good natured spirit.

Keep ridin' that Bull jiffy and doin' the dance. The ride eventually ends, but it's a great ride while it lasts. Remember, sooner or later the white hat gets painted black.

And with that in mind, the only point of reference for the 1995 CORNHUSKERS is themselves. :wink:

 

Considering what Nebraska did to Florida in the Fiesta Bowl following the '95 season it's not surprising that a Gator fan's thoughts would turn to Christian Peter. 8)

 

Yeah but if that's what it took to embarrass our biggest rival for the NC the next season then it was almost worth it... :wink:

That '95 game is a blip to us Gators now and by contrast it was the last unshared glory for Nebraska....followed by '97 as the last glory of any kind for the Huskers.

Certainly wouldn't trade places with 'em.

 

I'm surprised you don't consider Miami to be your biggest rival, given the school's winning record against both Florida and Florida State in football. Is it because Miami is a private school?

Which college team would you consider to be the greatest of all time?

'95 Huskers?
'71 Huskers?
'72 Trojans?
'01 Hurricanes?

I'm no Big 12 fan, but it's pretty amazing that one school would be listed twice among the top all-time teams.

Ain't it great how we can put a topic up, then it gets to throwing barbs at each others schools, players whatever. I think this topic has about run it's course unless it gets back on some reasonable track.

Corey I will say this to you again, I've worked much to hard as a moderator trying to keep this a place we can all enjoy. I still consider your analysis of Gators out of line but this is the end of my comment on that.

But if this topic doesn't get away from the petty bickering it's locked.

 

I've just gone back and read the last few posts again and I am closing this topic.

I'm taking Huskermans side here. Us Gators will long remember Lawrence Wrights "If you ain't a Gator, you're Gator Bait" It's folklore at Florida.

However it was said in 95 just prior to us getting our butts kicked the worst it was kicked in the Spurrier era by Nebraska. Knowing that background Huskerman using the quote he used by Christian Peter was relevant and funny under the circumstances. Bringing his criminal background into the discussion based on the small humorous post by Huskerman isn't appropriate in my humble opinion.

I'm doing two things, deleting the contents of that post by Gaterz and locking this topic.
