O... <t>Can recruit but not get it done as a head guy. Actually the guy that gets the job will have some good talent there to work with.</t>
Well Corey the Brother Love Traveling Salvation Show will be comming to Oxford so you should continue to be entertained!! Slick Rick Neuheisl rumoured to be the next coach at Ole Miss!!!
Bill Doba done at Wazzu. Can Willingham survive a horse whipping by Hawaii, who will no doubt be looking for a statement game against a BCS conference team to solidify them as a BCS Bowl team.
Sonny Lubrick done at Colorado State. Are there enough openings now that Bob Davie will be able to return to coaching????
Ole Miss to have Press Conference tomorrow, Houston Nutt is the apparent new coach. Which brings to mind how is this not tampering? Does the SEC have some sort of rule on this?
Damn, Notrd Dame must have a great English Creative Fiction department. M's current president was president at Iowa and there was bad blood between Les and Lloyd. And I suspect Miles leaving Michigan had something to do with Carr although I believe Cameron coached for several years after Miles left. But, Lloyd being a figurehead coach suffering from Parkinson's --that is a new one.... And if anyone was being groomed to be a head coach, I suspect it was English, not DeBord.
Link to a great analysis of 2007 Div-1 Football Bowl Subdivision coaching changes. Best I've seen so far: http://acctalk.com/ESPN_1A_coaching_changes.htm
Got this quote from another bb, don't know exactly where it originated. "Another potential candidate, Navy's Paul Johnson, didn't say yes or no Tuesday when asked whether he's been contacted by Nebraska. He said no comment, adding he wouldn't be answering questions about anything other than the Midshipmen's showdown Saturday against Army."
Vic <t>I'm with you. PJ would have them throwing their red panties on the field in Lincoln in no time.<br/> <br/> I hear folks whining that Nebraska can't go back to the option...Why not? The vast majority of 'progressive' top teams are running spread option, which is essentially the triple option in a different form...designed to isolate the edge/perimeter with a better deep pass threat...<br/> <br/> Very few teams are running a legit pro-set offense in college football.</t>
I'm very disappointed to see Art Briles leave the University of Houston. I thought he did a great job there and the program has been steadily improving under his regime. I think he's going to maybe last 5 years at Baylor and then he'll be fired. But I guess it's tough to turn down 1.8 million dollars when you are earning only 900K. I hope he takes care of the money and sets himself up for retirement after Baylor fires him a few years from now.
Steve Kelley, Seattle Times sports writer, who excoriated ND for the Willingham firing is now calling for his head so UW can hire Jim Mora.
vic from what I can gather Willingham has completely lost the support of Wash Alums and fans, a bad lose to Hawaii will just rachet up the pressure on the Wash AD. The questions are 1) Will Wash fire him after this season? 2) if they do so will Mike Tirico and the other top black journalists play the race card on Washington like they did with Notre Dame. My guess is that they won't and that they will try to ignore the story of his firing as much as possible.
