Damned if he didn't pull it off again. What a supreme effort by his players and coaches. Just the kind of game that Zook almost has a patent on. If he could fbottle that up and play with that kind of effort on a weekly basis no doubt he could win a national title........but I don't think he can.
Really scrambles the BCS race now doesn't it. Good win for Illinois. I never thought they could go into Ohio Stadium and beat the Buckeyes.
I would have never thought Illinois could do that but I have been saying since Zook was hired at Illinois that this was coming for him as a coach in the Big Ten. The man is dangerous......just ask Mark Richt.
Our bubble burst today, thats for certain. Illini played a great game and our defense was rather porous. Unfortunately Todd Boeckman had a bad day. No TDs and three interceptions. Illinois completely dominated the 4th quarter with ball control and ran out the clock. I think we only had one possession in the final quarter. Don
Don, the Illini played lights out.....no turnovers and just one penalty - and that not until the 4th qtr. That's just good execution. The Williams kid showed great poise and made great throws when they were available....that said, I can't remember seeing that many blown coverages from us in a long time. But he made the throws. Their O-line is a good one and they won the war in the trenches today no question....when they needed to, they ran the ball right down our throats. Congrats to the Illini on an outstanding victory. Now.....it's on to Ann Arbor to play for the conference title.
I'm thinking it will absolutely happen Gaterz and the Illini will be big time trouble for the Florida defense. The alternative isn't so good either as if it is not Illinois in either the Outback or Cap One it will almost certainly be Ohio State or a healthy Michigan team. The two Big Ten reps will come from those three teams and I am 100% sure of that and I think UF will be in one of those two bowls provided we don't falter against FSU. The motivation factor for OSU and Illinois is obvious and Michigan when healthy on offense will give our defense fits. I choose Michigan out of those three because our offense would murder Big Blue's defense and Carr isn't such a great bowl coach. That is our saving factor however vs. all three....Meyer is a damned good bowl coach and he will know that he faces a great challenge.
Possible bowl matchups are starting to look interesting. I'm watching the replay and forgot just how close this game was to being 41-14 at half time ..... probable TD drops by Cooper and Murphy. You gotta wonder what would have happened with Percy Harvin at full speed??! 8)
Those drops are really bothersome Gaterz. Tebow's numbers this year would be through the roof without that B/S.
