Knucklehead coaching call of the season in not kicking the FG with just seconds left in the 30 yd line....for a win......A Charlie Weis call.

Who the hell can defend that call?

What has Weis done to gain the confidence to pay him all those big dollars?.......his track record?.....its horrible compared to even Willingham's record or the others.

Where are we..........1-8.....might finish 3-9?......might not?....these are his players......and these are HIS CALLS.

How many major college football programs would right now want to have Charlie Weis as their head coach?

    Heck.......Larry Coker....as bad as he is.....is a better coach.

It ain't just the players.....they are top recruits....so....what is it?

I'm going out for awhile Gonzo but let me say this to you.

You seem incapable of discussing any topic in a civil manner. You great accomplishment in life, Skybox life at least, is to be negative, stir the pot and in general see who you can rile up.

You never seem to want to discuss Miami in any rational light, and for me that's just fine as I don't care anyway.

I'm leaving this topic alone for now, but in lieu of your past behavior here you are on thin ice.

I don't have time to discuss with the other moderators right now, but they are fully aware of my thoughts where it comes to your attitude and for sure they don't need my permission to close a topic anyway.

This is just for your fyi and I keep hoping you will grow up and be able to contribute.

Just for the record here I'm speaking as a moderator and not intending to discuss this topic with you. Keep that in mind if you decide to reply to my post as insulting a moderator in their moderator roll, which I am usually not in but now am, is off limits.

    Have a great day.

Gonzo, I brought that non call up on another thread. Why he didn't want to try for the win in regulation beats me? I quit paying attention thinking he would just kick the FG. Next thing I know i see some guy flying through the air and making a tackle. What he was thinking I will never understand. If I were a ND fan I would hope he resigned immediately after the game.

TB.....fully agree with you.....its a case of clarity and it shows that Weis is perhaps....not a good coach.

He made that klutzy call......what, as you state in your topic.....was he thinking?

He certainly has sunk to the bottom of "coaches you would like to have in your program" with that one on top of an 1-8 record.

Just watch and see what happens at the end of the season........the FIRE WEIS webapages and blogs will triplicate in size ......and if Weis starts next season in a loss streak......ITS OVER.

I just don't see any justification or logic for anyone to make an unequivocal statement that Coach Weis is either an offensive genius, master recruiter or even a decent college coach........he might just very well be the biggest blowout in a long line of ND coaching busts.

Its been 3 years at the helm.......cutting him some slack was up last season.

If that's true, I assume that other schools will be outrecruiting him. If on the other hand schools like Miami can't it says a lot about those that want to write him off.

    COCO says
Sure, when you have someone else's players.....namely Brady Quinn...it may work....except they lost both bowl games too

Gipper, I wouldn't bet your law practice that ND will outrecruit Miami

No, they haven't......ESPN.com.....Miami #1....still a long way to go

Plus, I can bet you my practice that Miami will have a better W-L record next year.....as may Temple or even FIU

Rivals and Scout both have Notre Dame #1. Miami does have a good class at this point though, but the Irish are #3 in the ESPN150 rankings so Miami is doing well but more people think ND is doing better.

What the hell difference does recruiting ranking mean anyway.

Lets say ND has had top notch recruits the last three years under Coach Weis.

    BOTTOM LINE.......what has happened?

Plus, a point thats dear to my heart about recruiting.....Miami had the #1 QB in the nation 2 years in a row with Kyle Wright and Kirby Freeman.....both total busts.

Meanwhile......Boston College gets #48 QB recruit Matt Ryan.....what does that tell you?

Any top tier team gets good players........but recruiting ranking is overhyped and full of holes.

I'm like Terry and look at Rivals and Scout, both have Notre Dame number one.

As far as Miami goes there are lots of rumors that several of their top commits are going to un commit and commit elsewhere.

Hey Gonzo you're the one here that is trumping up what a great class UM has so I just gave you the facts. Miami does have a good class, it's just that so does ND and in a lot of peoples opinion has a better class than Miami.

As far as recruiting rankings, I'll give you that they can be off. But if I had my druthers I'd rather have a ton of top 100 players comming in every year than not. Sure it's not like the rest of the players are crap, there are a lot of good 3* star players out there that just need a chance to play. But give me a good coaching staff and a lot of top 100 players. That's what they have at Fla and they are the dominant team in Fla now, FSU and Miami are competing with USF and UCF.

Ok Gonzo here you go, I'll give you some links to read.

You familiar with Patrick Johnson 5* ranked cornerback from Pompano Beach Ely, committed early to Miami?

Here's a link to Rivals team commits that still shows him as a commit

    Miami Commits On Rivals

Click on his name and you get this which shows him as a soft commit and talks about USC more than Miami

    Patrick Johnson On Rivals

Then we go to Scout network and show the Miami Commitment list

    Miami Commitment List On Scout

Notice he has been removed from the Miami list on Scout.

Also notice the six soft verbals on the Miami list, rumor is one or more of them will not sign with Miami.

The last link is Johnson's bio on Scout.

    Johnson Scout Bio

Also I have heard that on his myspace page he says he's going to LSU. I haven't looked that up and am not going to.

However what I am telling you is hardly BS. I'm also not saying there is not chance he ends up at Miami, but solid to Miami now, hardly.

If you have other info I'm sure we would be glad to hear it.

    Sincerely

I can only speak to Wies from an NFL fan perspective since I've seen him in the AFC east for years. A little unknown fact when CW was the OC for the Je4ts, Bill Parcells yanked the playcalling responsibilities away from him. In NE, Weis was certainly no genius with Bledsoe at the helm. The entirew coaching staff looked like geniuses when Brady stepped in. Brady was very good right away, but most of the playcalling was very conservative-take what the D gives. It wasn't until Weis left that NE started opening up the playcalling a bit and Brady started being compared to Manning without bringing up the "rings".

An NFL offense is extremely difficult to learn and takes years to master. I question whether it can truly work in college simply for the fact that by the time the kids really get a grasp of all the nuances, they're leaving school.

I'm starting to agree with those who question wheter or not an NFL offense can succeed in college. They are just two different games. Steve Spurrier proved that an offensive genius in the college ranks can't take that college offense to the Pro's and have it work.

CW will have to adapt to the college game or he'll never quite get it done. When he was in the Pro's he wasn't limited to 20 hours a week of practice time, it was the players full time job.

And when he went to NE did he take CW with him?

Last year's Pat's weren't as good as the Colts. This year's team with Moss is better. It could be more than just the playcalling.

Let me make this very simple so that even your childish mind can undedrstand......SHUT UP and get lost. We need another losing streak for the "u" so "u" will be gone again....maybe forever this time....LOL <E>8)</E></r>
