 I'll be curious to watch ASU matchup with Oregon's relentless speed. The Sun Devils fall behind everyone, then wear them down with speed. But this time, they're up against an opponent that may have even more speed than they do. Look for an old-fashioned PAC10 shootout here. Bring yer calculator...
I was surprised that Cal lost to ASSU, but Longshore was lacking mobility and in the second half the gerbils put a lot of pressure on both him and his back up. Some of those INTs were just ugly. Duck QB Dixon is much improved from last year, and I think ASfU's D is going to have a much tougher time with him. Also, gerbil QB Rudy Carpenter has a bad thumb on his throwing hand and isn't throwing in practice. His back-up, Danny Sullivan (not the race car driver) is good, but doesn't have a lot of experience other than mop-up duty. I really need a widdle duckie win in this game.
 I've suspected that the Ducks were the best in the west since they trashed Michigan in Ann Arbor. Dixon isn't just improved; he's probably the real best player in the nation based on what I've seen. He's missing his top receivers due to injuries, but it doesn't seem to matter. He looks like Vince Young all over again: a tall guy who runs like a deer. His WRs are always open, because everybody is chasing him...
I could've heard wrong, but I thought I heard on the radio yesterday that he has a bad elbow and is sitting out of practice but expected to play Saturday. It could be a bad thumb AND a bad elbow.
I didn't know he was sitting out. I'd read or heard that he was taking the snaps, just not throwing the ball. In any event, Erickson seems pleased with the progress Carpenter is making.
Sid... <t>I was watching the game when he hurt the hand. He went down like he was shot then shook it off and came back. Guess it got worse during the week and they need him 100% just to stay in th game versus that Oregon offense. I'll take Oregon by 14 as I think they are that good this year.<br/> Just glad it is on TV here in Houston then we get to see Scott's Aggies versus OU after that.</t>
