Great game so far to. Too many penalties against both teams but all were good calls. Alabama on top 17 to 14 with Tennessee having to punt at mid field.
The game is not looking so great for Tennessee fans right now. Bama goes on top by 7 points, 24 to 17, at the half. The Tennessee offense is looking pretty good but the defense just can't hold up its end of the bargain. We have to get pressure on the Bama QB. I am not sure that zone defense is the absolute answer, but I would like to see it attempted. Until we give Wilson a great view of the sun while laying on his back, he will pick us apart. :?
You guys just can't get Bama off the field, they basically had the ball the whole 3rd qtr. Cutliffe is going to have to get creative and get some scores.
Bama now up by 13 at the start of the 4th quarter and Bama is mounting yet another drive. With one more score, the game is probably over. What a dilemma. Do I then hope Bama pastes 50 on us to force Fulmer out even quicker? I have never been put in that position before. Thanks Phil for bringing me to this point.
There is the score. 21 points down with 10:59 left. Congrats to Bama fans everywhere. This is not our year. We need to clean house, find a young coach to build his staff here in Tennessee.
Tom, Thanks. I know how it hurts. Alabama needed to win this game and they needed to win a game like this. Like we have talked about this is Alabama's biggest rival besides Auburn and with a win over Auburn would make for a successful season. Whew!
Don, It was great not to be biting my nails in the last few seconds like I have had to for every game this season. Congratulations to you too. OSU is about the only team still carrying the torch.
Congrats Kp....that was an inspired performance by Bama and helped to solidify Saban's Godship in Alabama. Condolences Tom. I know you didn't quite expect that but I hear ya wrt to it creating a hastier exit for PF. I have to wonder though if UT will rid themselves of Phil that easy. If Tenn loses at Ky to finish the year that could do it and Kentucky proved today they will be a tough out for the Vols.
KP, you still have any nails left?!? Those games that go down to the last seconds are fun to watch when you're not pulling heavy for one of the teams. John Parker Wilson was getting a little criticism, and it was nice to see him play as well as he did. Hopefully there won't be any more problems with textbooks this year! Big week in the SEC East next week--Ga-Fla and Tenn-SC..both could be barn burners. RTR
Bryan, <t>I am waiting for more news about the suspensions. I am amazed that we have players that are stupid enough to do these things. I hope this is just a few dumb ones.</t>
Missed much of the game but happy with the outcome, Now, we get to see Slick Nick with two weeks to prepare for Lucky Les and the shoot out for #1 in the old (SEC)West. That should be a good game. Interesting that both teams have a bye, next weekend.
Bama-LSU promises to be yet another SEC war. It's amazing how the SEC today has progressed to the point where any conference win over any of it's members is a good one. Case in point in the old days I would have been highly ticked that the UF defense allowed the meaningless last play TD to Ky to make a seemingly solid 45-31 victory look more like a 45-37 hard fought contest. Style points went out the window with the last score by the Cats but really when Ky is #8 ranked and you are at their place I guess even a skinny one point win would be beautiful. I'm sure the OBC would have loved to beat Vandy by one point yesterday.
MCG Many Gators knew the defense was going to struggle in 2007. I think they played well enough to win over AU and @ LSU ..... and bad enough to lose @ UKy. Fortunately, after some below average play against AU and LSU, the offense finally began to find itself in Lexington. I was a bit disappointed at the run offense on that 1st possession of the 4th quarter. Wish the offense been able to drive the ball at least 30-40 yards and 5-6 minutes to shorten the game. Hey, was in Cedar Key again, yesterday, and landed one 18-20" red and a 28" black drum. I didn't have time to launch our skiff so I fished from a dingy. I'm guessing the drum towed me over 100 yards and about 10 minutes before I was able to get it to the boat. I think I've found a new way to fish for those big drum!!
Nice drum......maybe about 10 pounds? Man...wished I could be there for some of that. I told my wife I have to rehab this leg of mine so I can climb in and out of boats next spring. My friends and I are looking at Abaco Bahamas for the next trip. On the Fla defense I thought without question that the Ky offense is the best in the SEC except when UF's offense is humming. LSU and especially Auburn have workable offenses but not real splashy. Can you imagine if Ky had Rafael Little yesterday? Wait until he returns and then look out....such as when Tenn plays in Lexington at the end of the season.
I'm guessing the drum was somewhere north of 10, probably closer to 20 as they are pretty fat this time of year. I didn;t get him up out of the water for the release so I had to estimate length against the side of the dingy, which I measured when I got back to the dock. WRT to the balance of the season, I'm hoping UKy defeats UGa and UTk but loses to Vandy, just in case UF doesn't win out. An interesting wild casrd in the SEC-East race is Arkansas as they play USCe at home then travel to UTk. They rolled Ole Miss so maybe the Nutter has something working?
Sorry to underestimate the catch there Gaterz... On Arky.....I hope so. I believe UF can win out but you never know with the OBC at Columbia. USCe sucked terribly yesterday though.
