TOK...he surprised me...wore a "Rutledge for Finance Director" shirt .

Other Terry; I feel very good about this OSU team...they are solid. I don't know about my Boilers...should be a gut-check for them...what worries me is our history of losing the big game and not bouncing back.

Stu, my take is that your Boilers have enough playmakers on offense to be a threat to most defenses.....I think they ran into a hungry group on Saturday nite. I think this weeks game with the Stripeheads will tell us alot more about both teams.

Defensively, I'd be encouraged by Spacks adjustments and the play of the defense in the second half after they got smacked in the mouth......they easily could have rolled over but they more than held there own with the Buckeye offense. A. good sign I think....

I agree...but we have never played good football in the Big House in the Tiller era. :(

    Buckeye Terry & Stu,

We have a breather Saturday with Kent State, but the remaining conference games cause me some concern.

Hopefully the offense will be a bit more consistent. Defense will carry their own and win a couple of games down the stretch.

    Don,

if Beanie Wells carries the ball more than 5 time against Kent State, I'm cancelling my membership to the Alumni Club!

In all seriousness, we are going to need him to be at full go down the stretch....I don't believe there is an opposing defense in the conference that can shut down our running game with Beanie at tailback without commiting a safety to the line of scrimmage. The downfield threat with a healthy Beanie in the game and a safety in the box is at a whole different level.....as we saw in the second half Saturday.

A brief respite from football! :D

Dr. Calvin Rickson, a scientist from Ohio State University, has invented a bra that keeps women's breasts from jiggling and prevents the nipples from pushing through the fabric when cold weather sets in.At a news conference, after announcing the invention, a large group of men took Dr. Rickson outside and kicked the sh** out of him

    Buckeye Terry,

Looks like you almost got your wish with Beanie. Buckeyes were almost flawless today against an inferior opponent.

Passing game was excellent, 90 punt return for TD by Heartline and Washington returns an interception for 70 yds and a TD.

Tressel must have played almost the entire squad. Second and third stringers started the second half played to the end of the game.

If Cal stumbles, we will be at the top of the pack. Still not sure we belong there, but time will tell.

    Time has told...

Cal fell to Oregon State at home when their freshman QB forgot to kill the clock with 12 seconds left and allowed time to run out...

    Buckeye Terry,

Additional note for you. Dispatch is reporting Russel has ankle sprain, and day to day, a protective boot and on crutches.

Laurenitus has a hip pointer, but is expected to practice this week and be ready for MSU.

Michigan seems to have righted the ship, if Hart can stay healthy I think they and Penn State are the only teams that can challenge the Buckeyes. Both are road games.

    Corey,

at this point my biggest concerns are how these kids handle the big road games......@ State College and the place up north. We've got some scraps coming up with Sparty, Wisky and the Zookers boys but we've got them at home.....as we have seen this year, any of those teams are capable of taking us down. I think the friendly confines of the Shoe will a big difference maker for such a young squad.

The Nits (Don't do it Andy!) and the Stripeheads will be ready with a fired up home crowd and a season in the balance. The kids handled Seattle and W. Lafayette quite well, but my sense is they need to be ready for a whole different level.....

Looks like Anderson Russel will play Saturday against MSU, as reported by todays Columbus Dispatch.

Great news if that proves to be true.

    Don,

great news....as I said, imho, he is a difference maker. We will need every able-bodied warrior available for the meat of the schedule which begins in earnest against Sparty. We've already lost one of the defensive starters along the front - Wilson - I would have hated to see another go down. They still seem to be doing just fine.....

This part of the schedule becomes very, very physical - week in and week out....it takes a toll on young teams especially unaccustomed to the conference wars. Glad to see Saine back in the line up....we're going to need 3 running backs to share the load keep Beanie as fresh as possible for the stretch run.

Sparty has broken my heart at least twice standing in the way of potential NC runs.....I'm happy with a 3-2 win this time.

Style points don't count now......just win baby.

While Sparty had their way with ND, I was not really impressed with them. We had no run defense and that was all they had, their passing game is ok but they just kept pounding at us. I don't think pounding the ball at the OSU defense is good strategy. Hard to evaluate their defense because we have a high school offense, but they lost to Wisconsin who I think is way down this year inspite of their record.

I don't see them giving you guys much trouble other than the old ...on any given saturday type of game if you know what I mean.
