The Buckeyes celebrated the 500th football game to be played in the Shoe, by taking care of business early, in dismantling the Wildcats 58-7. The game was out of reach early with Ohio State scoring at will, Todd Boeckman was hitting his receivers in stride and playing error free football. He did have one pass intercepted at the goal line, or it would have been another score. Our defense played extremely well and very aggressive. Beaning Wells rushed for another 100 yard game, but Tressel took the starters out at the beginning of the second half. Northwestern's only score came on a 99 yard TD return at the beginning of the second half. I am not sure how good we are going to be, until we play some stiffer teams. The YAWN schedule is now complete. Don
NW does suck this year...more so than usual but OSU is looking like a Big Ten contender absolutely. Watch out for Illinois.....
Right now I would have to give Ohio State the inside edge in the Big 10. If Michigan has righted their ship they may still win the Big 10.
Wow.....looked great. I was concerned about a letdown - at least from an intensity standpoint - and they came out ready to play.....I can't remember more big hits on special teams than I saw Saturday. Obviously NW was overmatched and with Sutton out they had no chance of keeping us honest on defense and our front 7 just overwhelmed them. Offense looked very sharp. Frankly I expected something slopply and lethargic but these kids were ready to play and play well. Great job by the coaching staff.....I'm REAL concerned about the running back situation. Beanie has not physically been 100% and got dinged up again - an ankle. The frosh Saine just got his knee scoped and won't be up to speed for a month or so...that pretty much leaves it up to the little Wells and whoever else they can find to carry a ball. Also, if I'm not mistaken I saw Laurinaitis limp off the field.....that would be a real blow. nice to see EVERYBODY got a lot of playing time.....this is a VERY young team. I think we have something like 2 seniors in the starting lineup and 3 seniors in the two deep....if somebody wants to take this team down, they better get them early.....it will be a different team at the end of the year.....
