They have Bent Grass greens there, which given their problems with heat seems stupid, and they are in such bad shape that the players won't be able to play on them till the start of the tournament. They can hit driver on the par 4's and 5's and 2nd shots on the par 5's (only if they don't go for the green) and that is it. No doubt Bent Grass is great, but in the south it's just too hot for them to be in any kind of shape during the hot months. Late Fall and Early spring yeah..like at Augusta sure. But then I believe Augusta closes for the summer. It's hard to really call this a playoff though, as only about 4 or 5 guys in the field have a shot at wining the FedEx Cup and 2 of those guys didn't even play the whole series. But I have to admit the last 2 tournaments were very very good. Tiger was just awesome yesterday. Bent Grass a No Go
What a debacle....somebody needs to be shot at East Lake. We have bent grass greens here. We've had a record breaking summer in terms of heat and drought and while no doubt a challenge for the staff, the courses have been open all summer....some of the greens are showing signs of stress but my guess is that if Tiger showed up, we'd let him hit into the greens!
I'm wondering how they're going to do the pairings on sun. Will the players in the last group be the ones leading the tournament or the ones leading in the Fedex cup series? The 5 players who can possibly win the cup are Tiger Phil Stricker Choi Crazy Rory.
