I was reading a thread on another board on the governors election in PA and the subject of the liquor laws came up. This one guy from PA said you can't buy a 6 pak in PA, have to buy a case or a keg. And that the selection is limited and more expensive than Jersey. True?

    What's the Business Privlidge Tax?

ps...It sucks but I'm pretty sure we're going to have a consumer tax on professional services in Texas! :(

He is right except that you can buy a 6 pack from a tavern.
Expensive ? you bet. I have clients who drive a couple of hours from PA to have their taxes done. While they are here, they visit a high volume liquor store and pay 1/3 to 1/2 of what it costs in PA.

Bppt, Haven't done one of those in many years but it is a local tax on businesses. Philadelphia and a couple of townships only. It's not much something like .0015 or so.

PA has a lot of nuisance taxes. Several cities have local earned income taxes 1% some higher. PA income taxes are 3.07%, higher than NJ if you make less than 75k. It's inheritance taxes are criminal. Direct decendants pay 4.75% no exclusions.

PA is a wierd state. Some things are better than NJ, some much worse.
