Corey's pictures got me thinking about all the places I've seen a game. My list isn't exhaustive, but I have really enjoyed seeing games around the country. I'm sure you guys can add quite a few stadiums to this list... Been to plenty. UT's reminds me of two Grant Fields except not as old. Auburn is a cheap take off of UGA's Stadium except for the ugly outfits on pretty cheerleaders that they have. I love the re-done Gator Bowl. I've never been to Gainesville because the Gators are scared to play a home and home. SC has quite a large stadium in the middle of the ghetto. I have nothing bad to say about the Oxford, Ole Miss Stadium. It brings back that HS feeling of big time football on a home coming night with every gal in attendance as a past, present, or future home coming queen. All and all, I love all the places I visit. there's something neat about each stadium. P.S. ; )
Ah Tailback but you forget, while the Gator Bowl was being rebuilt the Gators and Dogs did play a home and home. I couldn't get tickets to the game in Athens, but I do remember we scored about 50 points in both games
Purdue Ohio State Michigan Michigan State Indiana Northwestern Illinois Ohio University Notre Dame Texas
The Swamp! Death Valley - Clemson Alltel in Jax - UF/UGa Neyland - first game on grass, when UF burried UT in their new grass. Another time got locked in Neyland accidently after hanging too long for field pictures after everyone went in from practice (NC year). It's amazing how you can feel clostrophic in a 100K+ seat stadium! Williams-Brice Stadium - USC, for Clemson and UF games (pre-Spurrier) Death Valley - LSU (but as a Gator Band geek, before I was as avid and would have appreciated it more) Orange Bowl - for a Dolphins game forever ago Raymond James, Tampa - Bucs and an Equestrian competition Citrus Bowl - Olympic soccer, never football UGA - not for a game, just went in to see it. Very nice. "Borrowed" cuttings of the hedge which we rooted to grow our own bush to torture. Cubs games at: Dolphin Stadium - Joe Robbie/Pro Player/whatever Turner Field, Atlanta Cinncinnatti (last season before they moved to the G.A.B.) and of course Wrigley! Tropican Field, Tampa - for Devil Rays, not Cubs, but it's still baseball, sorta. Didn't like indoor baseball - seems fake. Sites on the someday to-do list: Texas A&M - for the yells and 12th man Ohio State - for dotting the "I" Rose Bowl - because, well, it's the Rose Bowl!
I experienced the Texas A&M fans/students twice in a row in the early 90s at the Cotton Bowl. It was really cool, and I would recommend it to any avid college football fan.
I second Sid's suggestion. I experienced aTm in the Cotton Bowl on Jan-1-2005. Tennessee was ahead 38-0 in the 4th quarter and the aTm crowd was still as loud as it was at the opening kick off. When the Aggies scored in the 4th quarter, it sounded like they had just won the game. IMPRESSIVE!
I lost respect for the Michigan crowd back when Miami came in with Steve Walsh and Michigan got up on the canes by about 13 points. When Michigan was driving late in the 3rd qtr to add on more points the crowd was more interested in doing the wave and what not and seemed to take the game for granted. Miami held..the crowd never got back in the game and the canes pulled out a 31-30 victory that never should have been. Act like you have been there before and get complacent while you are at it.....
