This section will be stadium shots from around the country that I found interesting or like...sort of a tribute if you will, to the 'holy' grounds that keep us glued to every move of these schools and programs, for one reason or another

You know it's interesting. I wonder what historians will say about our college football stadiums (i.e. Roman colosseum)?
Thanks Corey... I needed that today. You guys came close to losing one of your moderators yesterday. I am deathly allergic to insect bites/stings. While I was mowing acreage with my tractor, I stirred up a hive of very angry, aggressive honey bees. I knew that I was in extreme trouble. I knocked the gear shift into neutral and dove off the tractor. It would have been a beautiful swan dive IF if there had been water to land in. I face planted and luckily didn’t knock myself out. I got up and ran about 100 yards to the neighbors’ house (not breaking any college records by the way). We have not built on our acreage yet. The residents were not home but they had a garden hose connected which I used to deter the bees’ aggressive attack while I called 911: Send rescue to… the residence… at the corner of… county roads 332… and 313… Jarrell firefighter 118 down… multiple bee stings… onset of… anaphylactic… shock… need help… stat! My fire pager went off as I said firefighter 118 down. The dispatcher was repeating everything I said. About that time, Cindy came up on the riding lawn mower. The bees never stung her, not even once. She took the phone to give further information. It was becoming harder to breath. Cindy put me on the riding mower to get me farther away from the swarm. Within 5 minutes, our FD Rescue vehicle was on scene breaking out the EpiPen (Epinephrine Auto Injector. They administered the EpiPen and took vitals. Respirations 35 and labored, heart rate 150, blood pressure 130 over 90, O2 sat at 95% - O2 administered at 10 Liters. Within 5 minutes of the EpiPen injection, my breathing was relaxed, respirations down to 20, Heart rate down to 100, Blood pressure closer to my normal 120 over 70, and O2 sat at 99%. It was another 5 minutes (15 minutes into the incident) before the paramedics arrived in Williamson county Medic 31 ambulance. Cindy had been pulling stingers out of my face, scalp, ears, shoulders, hands, arms, and chest. She was up to 40+ by the time the ambulance arrived. The paramedics started an IV and administered steroids and Benadryl. Upon arrival at the hospital, Cindy had scraped out 20 more stingers. She quit counting at that point but continued to search and scrape. The doctor praised the efforts of all sources outside of the hospital. He ordered more Benadryl, more steroids and Dilaudid. Within 2 hours after arrival, the doc was ready to release me. If it were not for the quick response of my team members, my breathing would have continued to deteriorate to the point of cardiac arrest. I estimate that I was probably 10 minutes from that point when the EpiPen was administered. I now owe my life to Cindy for saving it back in 1998 and now my team of dedicated responders at the Jarrell FD in which Cindy is included.
Tom, I think I can speak for all of us in saying we are glad you got the help you needed as quick as you did. Having a nurse for a wife doesn't hurt either does it? Nice work Cindy.
My wife is an angel to me. I had no idea what I was getting 24 years, 5 months, and 16 days ago. I just hope she does not think she got a rotten deal.
Damn Tom....that was scary. Glad to have you still with us and thank God for all those who knew what to do....including yourself. Godspeed to your full recovery.....it's almost football season and except for staying on the right side of the dirt... it's pretty important too ( but pales in comparison don't it. )
MCG, The Orange is just as important to me as the Blue and Orange is to you. However, you are absolutely correct that yesterday's outcome was more important to me than a hundred football seasons. Thanks to all for the kind words.
damn <t>Tom, I too am deathly allergic to them. My friends laugh from time to time when I break out swatting and throwing blows like Sugar Ray Leonard on Marvin Hagler at a handful of bees.<br/> <br/> everyone else... Just make your own contributions.. that means you too Jif</t>
good luck Tom! Isnt there a med that you can keep with you at all times for a situation like this? Seems to me I recall reading about it. jif

Corey, sorry to have disrupted your topic theme. JIF wrote: Yes. EpiPens are available by perscription. I have one but it had been so long since I needed it, I had quit carrying it. You can take bets that I will now be carrying it until the day I expire.
Thanks all We are very lucky that he is still with us. I think keeping his head and calling 911 instead of me saved his life. Help was already on the way by the time I reached him. I was in the next field. And yes, I think I'm pretty lucky too. After 24 yrs I think I'll keep him.
