This is pretty funny!! But it's got a serious point to it, I know Texas fans aren't very happy with the Longhorns out of conference schedule that includes no programs that anybody even remotely cares about. Ark State, Rice, UCF...TCU is the top out of conference program...they are actually decent but not a game to fire up the fans like Ohio State the last 2 years.
....clever stuff. I agree for the most part. I understand the sentiment behind the Youngstown State deal and fully comprehend the political pressure to schedule the in-state MAC schools but for whatever reason, and I don't know why, this year was overbaked on the in-state schools. Annually we schedule a home/home with other top programs...this year Washington, next year USC, we also have home/home dates upcoming with Oklahoma, Va Tech, Cal, Miami to name a few. So long as they continue the practice of strong home/home inter-regional match-ups, I can deal with a couple solid in-state MAC opponents, but 3 or 4 is a bit much.....it's quite possible someone backed out and we needed to fill a spot. Who knows.....but I don't have to like it.
Hey while I understand some fans being upset with easy opponets, the above Bill of Rights is a receipt for disaster. A Big 10 schedule and 3 games with teams in the conferences mention would likely keep OSU out of the BCS Championship game for some time to come. I'll take a couple of out of conference games with good opponents and put up with the couple of easy games. [/i]
I pretty much agree with the whole thing... Bill, I don't think he's saying load the schedule unreasonably...he's just suggesting that certain strategies be applied to make the schedule more appropriate...he allows for one of the instate "rivals" each year in his "Bill of Rights". Two points: 1. What is everybody gonna say when it comes to happen that one of those MAC schools pulls off a "W"? 2. I'm just glad he didn't include Purdue in the "suck" schools.
