Oh state Let's see Fla. had 2 first round NFL draft choices, 5 in the first 5 rounde and 9 over all. ND had 1 first round pick 4 in the first 5 rounds and 7 over all. Looks to me like Meyer had more talent on hand when he started than Charlie and this year's senior class will an even greater talent disparity.
 Its pretty hard to have "multiple wins" over teams when you've only been the coach for two seasons... You count Arkansas among the Gators impressive wins, yet they were the worst team on USC's schedule that anyone around here can remember and the last time Notre Dame played FSU, the Irish stomped the Noles in Tallahassee... You misspelled Weis...
I'm not sure Arkansas is a really good team. Nor am I sure about the accuracy of the underlined assertion. When was that game played in Tallahassee and what was the score :?:
 October 26, 2002... Corey and Carson were at that game... Notre Dame 34 Florida State 24 The Irish left no doubt in this one. The Noles got two late tds to make the score look more respectable, but most of the crowd had gone home by that time. It was an old fashioned butt kicking...
When you used the term "stomped" guess I was thinking of the 37-0 game in 2003 ..... which I now realize was in South Bend. 8)
MCG knows the correct spelling of our coach's name. I've called his attention to it in the past. He does it on purpose because he delights in yanking our chain. Same with Gaterz a la the above quote. They don't know much about sportsmanship or how to handle their team's success with class. We saw that following the NC game. It's just something we have to put up with in this otherwise fun forum.
Well the FSU game was fantastic for ND but it was not under Weiss...and no I did not mispell it on purpose. To me this is the same ol...same ol.... ND will always be so much greater in the eyes of it's faithful than perhaps the rest of the football world gives it credit for. Not sure why that is true but it is true. However...win a lot of those top games I allude to over the elite top- ranked teams and show up in bowls and even win some and ND will get more than it's just due. 48-38 is not the record of teams having elite seasons.
All heady with recent, make that very recent sucess, some Gator fans delight in dumping on other teams. When the pendulum swings the other way I think they will find it unbearable around here . The only place we'll be able to find MCG and gaterzfan will be on a milk cartons.
No... I was thinking more about the last time we played the Gators. We kicked their arse too 39-28. Now that you mention it, we've beaten Florida, Florida State and Miami the last time we saw them. Who else you got down there? Maybe we've been playing the wrong Floridas...
As I said....Lou Holtz was a proven big game coach and a helluva bowl coach. ND fans had a lot to boast about and be proud of in those days. Man...I'm going to be hearing about that Sugar Bowl 20 years from now just like it happened yesterday. I survived around here during the Zook years so I think I'll be allright now and that's mostly because of the humility I have no problem finding when the Gators truly are unremarkable.
Dog Are you sure ND defeated all 3 Florida teams the last time(s) they played? And with regard to cummulative record against the big 3 teams from Florida, I realize ND holds a lead in the won/loss record thanks in large part to its dominance of Miami in the 1970s. However, since that time, I'm not sure ND has a wnning record against FSU and Miami, as it does against UF. Too bad UF and ND didn't get a chance to play in the 2006 BCS+1 game. Maybe sometime down the road.
The only thing that's certain, is that if Notre Dame does have success and get to a championship game, the Irish will act like they've been there before...
LOL, given how you, George, and Sid have posted on this thread, I guess my response to this comment should be ..... to inquire as to why some of "the Irish" would change their behavior if "the Irish" got "to a championship game"?
The very recent success of the Gators has once again proven to be a narcotic to the long suffering fan. Heady stuff, indeed.
"LOL, given how you, George, and Sid have posted on this thread, I guess my response to this comment should be ..... to inquire as to why some of "the Irish" would change their behavior if "the Irish" got "to a championship game"?" That's pretty good Gaterz. I can imagine how these guys will react if and when ND makes and wins a title game.
On the question of Arkansas counting as one of Meyer's top 7 wins... The Hogs played LSU extremely tough in a 26-31 loss. Played em a lot better than some teams I know...a lot better. Plus that was an SEC title game....huge every time no matter the opponent. I could have and probably should have substituted Tenn this year as one of the top 7 wins over the 2006 Ga win as both were 9-4 except the win over Tenn came in Knoxville. By the way Tenn lost 31-14 to Arkansas. On the 1992 ND Sugar Bowl win over Florida....Vince Dooley was one great coach at Georgia in his day who outcoached everyone Florida threw at him. That doesn't seem very relevant now to most Georgia fans.
I'll second that emotion. However.........As far as the overall image that Florida fans portray to the outside world, I would like to think that classy folks like Gator Bill and Wendy are closer to the norm.
Sid, I am always blamed for passing along the articles. It is somehow me that is doing the writing and then I defend my position after attack, usually on Florida and the debate is then started and then I become the only bad actor on Skybox because everything pro-ND is OK and anything not of that position no matter how easy it is presented becomes "classless". Not right.
Nothing wrong with the article. It is how you "defend" yourselves by taking potshots at other teams, in this case, ND.
