Guys, I have stumbled upon the ultimate in rural area internet providers. It is wireless, but not wireless DSL. It is a multiplexed signal that is pumping multiple signals simultaneously to get up to 3000 kbps. I did not opt for the more expensive 3Mbps connection.

The company is Farm to Market Broadband. I just ran a speed test from CNET.com. Their bandwidth meter shows my connection speed at 1366.8 kbps with full T1 being 1544 kbps. I am extremely happy. I called them to tell them the results and they were pissed at their installers. They are sending someone over to make adjustments because they guarantee a minimum of T1.

I don't know how long it will remain available, but here is a link to my results:

That's faster than what I get with DSL. On the CNet Bandmeter I get 1254.

How did you find them? Do they have a web page, surely they do...but googling Farm to Market Broadband doesn't turn one up.

They had placed a sign, like the "new home" signs at the entrance to our horse shoe shaped subdivision. After my wireless DSL connection, at 128 kbs, connection had to be rebooted every two or three days, I gave that company the boot and called these people.

They are brand new and do not have a web site up yet. I'll let you know when they do.
