AJ sent me this photo of him and wants to see if you guys can guess who is in the photo with him. BTW a decidely nonreg haircut, GORT will be shocked!! AJ will be giving out the clues.
Ok, Thanks again Doc. I met this gentleman yesterday. He was the conductor of a men's barbershop choir that entertained the ladies golf league. They introduced him as the son of a Hall of Fame BB player. He's a Jr., so he has his daddy's name. That's what raised my ears when I heard it. I don't think most of the ladies had a clue. Clue # 1: His father made his debut game in 1915. I'd give you the actual date, but i think GOOGLE has ruined that...
Rats.... I thought I had it with George Sisler Jr....but he died last year and that guy looks alive unless AJ was in a wax museum.
Rogers Hornsby. .424 battin avg leads all of Baseball. Bobda.....You are correct sir. His son was in a hurry and I didn't get but 2 minutes to have a conversation with him. I had a thousand questions to ask him. Was it the Texas clue Bobda?
Actually, BDR was the 1st to answer. He called me with the answer 5 minutes after I posted the picture. I don't know how he does it. That man has an abundance of resources.
The guy on the right, between the Marine Corps and the Huskers, life has taken it's toll on the big guy!
BDR cheated. I read the name of the barbershop chorus on the man's shirt, found information on their organization, and then called the director and asked him. Bobda wins.
HF, In contrast to me, I bet BDR figured it out honestly. I strained my eyes to read the logo on his shirt and then googled the name. One of the hits listed the son an being an officer of the barbershop chorus. My actual guess would have been the same as Sid's. I figured the Dad was a St. Looie player but for some reason, the first players that pop up in my mind re S.L. old timers are Sisler, the Dean brothers, and Ducky Medwick. Edit, I posted this note before reading BDR's reply! LOL.
So who is it? We "honest" but uncreative folks want to know. (uncreative = not smart enough to figure out how to do it the way BDR & Bobda did it).
How the hell did you guys read that logo? I printed it out and looked at it with 6X power loops that I use in the operatory and still couldn't really tell what it said.
