I made the move in a limited budget fantasy league and paid the stiff price to pick him up......which guarantees that he'll go in the tank. Seriously, in this league a lights-out pitcher can score up to 150 points for a great once-a-week start. So far A-Rod is averaging over 30 points per game. Unheard of in this league. He can't keep up this pace.....or can he? He's a great enough player that IMO my risk is limited and my upside is very good.
I have him as well in one league. He can do all he wants for me in the regular season. The regular season has never been the issue, though... 8)
Rikki dont lose that number You dont wanna call nobody else Send it off in a letter to yourself Rikki dont lose that number Its the only one you own You might use it if you feel better When you get home You tell yourself youre not my kind But you dont even know your mind And you could have a change of heart 8)
Actually George, my number is 13. Always has been. I wore it in baseball as a kid and throughout my years in league soccer. I always asked for it because I consider 13 to be my lucky number. I was born on November 13th. And I have all of Steely Dan, too.
Was on the road for a couple of days, Rick. Just got back. Fantasy is looking good. He had another tonight vs. your Green Sox.
A-Rod had a good series against the Red Sox. Got his numbers - good for him, good for me and Sid - but when he came up in the ninth tonight with a chance to win the game in the clutch, homerun #13 eluded him. 13 must really be my lucky number. I guess I don't wanna lose it.
Congratulations on a hard fought sweep. As a Yankee fan I have to take away the following positives: We lost three games, in Boston, by a total of four runs. Boston set it self up for the series with its three best pitchers, none of whom looked that good to me. New York, on the other hand, came in with three of its starters on the DL including their top two. In addition , the starting lineup was makeshift with Posada and Matsui out and Damon missing a game as well. Boston always looks good in April, May and June. Its July through August that is problematic.
Gentlemen, start your rationalizations. In this photo we see #13 sensing the Yankees' impending moral victory.
Just the facts, Rick. No rationalizations. I'm going with history here. The Yankees win the division every year. Red Sox die like dogs every August. Check back with me.
3-0 is probably the most important fact of all. Recent history suggests that the present day editions of Yankees aren't the same as those from Hemingway's era. Didn't Hemingway commit suicide with his favorite shotgun?
Yankee fans will crawl on their bellies and throw flowers at Rajah's feet if their starting pitching doesn't get well quickly. I watched mighty Tampa Bay take the Crankee's pitchers to school tonight and Mariano Rivera had to come in and pitch just to give the rest of the bullpen a rest. IMHO...the Crankers are going to need more than just Clemens. They're going to have to make a major trade. They should have traded A-Rod last winter for pitchers. Without that trade, he's leading them into the celler unless he can pitch too...
