I think we’re starting to look like ND is getting back to the traditional ND offense we know, Running the ball behind a dominant O-line.
We didn't run particularly well against rather average BT teams. I wouldn't base my evaluation of the O line on a game with Stanford. BYU is tougher than Wisky and the Spartans.
Worst half of football by the Irish in awhile. BYU has played lights out and they are jacked a mile high. Carr has been off for sure, he's missed a couple of TD throws and then he fumbled spiking the ball and cost us a FG attempt. BYU QB is looking like the Heisman candidate, not CJ Carr. 21-10 BYU at the half. Irish get the ball coming out in the 2nd half, they'd better score and more importantly they have to figure out something on defense, BYU is shredding us.
BYU wins, Irish had some shots at the endzone late but their defense held. Bear Bachmier had a great game at QB and was the reason they won tonight. We had opportunities with 3 turnovers that produced 2 FG's and a 3 and out. They earned the win, congrats to them.
Irish fans are up in arms over the play calling on Offense from Mike Denbrock and the defense by Chris Ash. If you took a poll right now they would be fired in the locker room and made to get their own way back to South Bend to clean out their desks/lockers. Looking at the stats, they were very even. TOP was almost equal, First downs same,, passing same, they had a few more yards rushing. But stats don't win games. They made the plays that coiunted. If CJ doesn't fumble the spike we get at least a FG and then at the end of the game it would have been 28-27 and we could have kicked a FG for the win. But none of that happened so we lost. Also it was pretty clear that was PI on the last play, but just like in the Alabama/UGA game if they don't call it PI then it never happened and all you can do is whine about it.
Also I love CJ Carr he's been a great QB, but tonight he was just average due to the BYU defensive scheme and of course the Mike Denbrock offense!
Losing to BYU on their turf was not surprising, if that helps any Terry. Saturday was a terrible for most of the major programs.
Why the F do we run a spike play from the shotgun formation. The odds of a botched snap are much higher than taking the snap from under center and it probably take a second longer to run. Apparently there was still a second left in the game. I'm sure we would have run another fade route to the corner of the endzone becaue a 25 yd pass is easier to complete than a 10 yd pass over the middle. I thought ND still had standards for admission. How did someone as stupid as Traore get in?
I thought the last play was 4th down? So the 1 sec would have just given the ball to BYU, right? As far as the PI call, frustrating for sure, but you can bet the B12 official wasn't going to make that call on that play, maybe earlier in the game but not then. It goes without saying though that if was a PI earlier it's a PI on the final play. I quote Lame Kiffin, who said that after the SEC refs let that game tying TD scrum go on till Minchey scored, that he wasn't going to blow the whistle because he'd be killed before he could get to his car.
TOK, ND had just made a first down before the final play of the game. The odd thing about the 1 second controversy is that nobody in the TV booth mentioned it.
If it's your conference refs you can get 60min. 1 sec. games. Or in other cases 59min. and 59sec. games. Terry your attachment says it's a private video.
Sorry, I got that link off another board and it wasn't private then, but maybe it's been made private. The gist of it is that it was a post game BYU podcaster who had a BYU DL on for an interview about the win and he claimed that there was so much noise in the stadium you couldn't hardly hear anything so when the Irish lined up to spike it he hollered 'Hut" and the center snapped it before Carr was ready. He said the Irish center complained that he had called that out, which is illegal, but the ref never heard it and he of course denied it...till this podcast of course. They all had a good laugh at the Irish expense.
