That stupid, stupid celebration completely reversed the momentum. We have to try to get it back in the 2nd half.
Irish didn't play esp well on offense or defense. That MSU kid doesn't drop a sure TD pass it's a tie game. This team is a work in progress, running game is very average and we can't get to a NC game with this current running game. Not surprised though that MSU has some to ND Stadium and played well though. Need to force a punt on the 1st series from MSU coming out of half time.
CJ Carr is definitely elite. His ability to check into a different but correct play at the line of scrimmage is impressive.
I like CJ a lot, but to me to be an elite "college" QB you have to be able to be able to threaten the defense with your legs. That Ole Miss QB is an elite athlete and an elite QB. CJ has a great/accurate arm, I just wish he was as good with his legs.
Tough hard fought win for the Irish. Defense came alive in the 2nd half and gave the MSU offense a lot of problems. Nolan James had an excellent night running the ball in the 2nd half. Good solid win. Lot of work left to do to become a team who can truly compete for a Title.
MSU looked to me to be a better team than we've seen in recent years. I don't know what kind of season they'll have in the Big 10, but I believe they'll end their bowl game drought. Props to their very good LB who refused to let an arm injury keep him out. He obviously was in pain toward the end but left it all on the field. As for ND, I sure hope Coach Freeman's sideline dressing down cured those knuckleheads of TD celebrations in the future. I loved seeing Carr bull his way into the end zone for the TD. If there ever was any doubt about his toughness, that play erased it. Great game for Luke Talich, my favorite former preferred walk-on, who was all over the field making plays including an INT.
Well the MSU game was………interesting for sure. Looks like we may have found our true starting RB, Nolan James. After Ash let the defense do their thing it was over.
Our SOS took a hit Sat. but I think that it's a good sign that Whisky and Sparty gave us two physical games. I have a lot of respect for Fitzgerald. I think Northwestern made him a scapegoat. He's got things going in the right direction in E. Lansing but that's a deep hole he's starting in. I expect to see them give big brother a tough fight.
Good weekend for the Irish Soccer Teams. Ladies beat BC and the men took down #1 ranked Stanford at Palo Alto.
For Stu.... On Purdue RB Fame Ijeboi: “Not only is it running the ball in his physical size, nature and his speed, but he might be more dangerous in the pass game. They do some things with him in the pass game where they try to isolate him on some linebackers that we're going to have to have a great plan for. He's taking care of the football. Their whole team is taking care of the football. The quarterback's not making bad decisions and interceptions. The running backs are making sure that they don't fumble the ball and so we're going to have to have a good plan for him and part of stopping a run is maybe you have one less defender for the pass and we got to know that he can really try to hurt us in the run and the pass game.” On facing the same Purdue QB two years in a row: “He's a competitive football player. What you've seen is him kind of honestly learn how to keep it in the kitchen. He is being really patient in the pocket. He's not using his legs as much as we saw on film last year going into our game. He's not taking sacks. He's just making good decisions. I think that's just your natural progression. “One, he's a good player. He's got good coaches and he's improving over time. There's some things we did last year that we believe we had success with. There's some things that we got exposed last year. We got some different personnel out there, but we would be insane to just say we're going to have the same game plan that we did last year and not think they're going to pick it apart. They're watching that game, just like we're watching the game that we played against them last year. We got to do what our guys do well, but we also got to be able to mask and disguise what we're doing pre-snap and not just tell that experienced quarterback what defense we're in.”
