After a horrendous tournament in Memphis last week, Rory showed up ready to go in St. Louis for the BMW, and is tied for the lead at -6. Scottie on the other hand after blowing away the field at the the Stl Jude in Memphis failed to show up today and sits at +2.
Listened to the new PGA Tour Commissioner yesterday. From what I gathered the FEDEX Cup is going change, 2028 Postseason Overhaul: The current stroke-play playoff series will end and transition into a new multi-week model: Championship Series Finale: A 72-hole stroke-play event featuring the top 90 golfers on the season-long points list. The Tour Championship (Match Play): The top 32 players from the finale will advance to a two-week, standalone match-play event utilizing group stages and knockouts across prestigious rotating venues. [1, 2, 3]
All of the zUSGA Amateur events follow that model. Stroke play to get the field down to match play to determine the champion. The now defunk WGC tourneys were sort of like that. But they did pool play to determine which players advanced to knock out round.
Min Woo Lee had a great round today and leads, he shot 62 and is -8. He had to play solo as the guy who was supposed to play with him JJ Spaun with drew after 4 holes with a shoulder problem. Scottie had a solid round and shot a 65 and is just 3 shots back.
Heading towards great finish at East Lake. Hovland just took the lead at -15 1 stroke up on Scottie who just nail a lob wedge to what looks like a sure birdie.
Great round by Scheffler, a TKO! I feel for Hovland, blading wedge from the fairway is a shot I've perfected!
