Case in point Don was that amazing class Jimbo put together and which Saban accused him of "buying" players.

Of course that's what everyone does now.

Jimbo was fired 2 years later I believe.

Yeah, that class was a microcosm of Jimbo. He was just grabbing guys based on their rating... not based on team needs. We ended up with a 3 deep of DL that were all world class... and then they transferred because they werent getting on the field, while several other positions didn't have any bodies to line up.

Elko on the other hand seems to have a very real purpose in the way he recruits.
I almost wish I still cared... I like big Mike.

Woody Hayes Athletic Complex is looking to spend 125 million to update the facility within the next 18 months. Ironically naming rights to the The Ohio stadium may be in the works as well. For sure that will be met with resistance by fans, but it takes money and lot of it to keep athetice programs afloat now days. I can hardly wait to see how many trillion $'s will be required? Stayed tuned!o_O

Kid there are a lot o great college QB's this year and Sayin is of course one of them. Irish C.J. Carr is one who is also expected to grow, and don't forget that 10M QB at Miami and Arch Manning at Texas. And the TCU kid who transferred to IU, Josh Hoover, will he be another winner that they pull out of the hat?

I was looking at the list of College QB's who were at the Manning Passing Academy...wow what a list.

A quick thread jacking: since England is playing Norway today in the WC and in honor of Jo Co, I thought it a good moment to post the great celebration of a Norway announcer 45 years ago after Norway beat England for the first time in soccer:

Also, my guess is AJ is the only one here who immediately recognized who is Henry Cooper.

I remember Cooper also. I followed boxing for years but got disgusted with it when the Herns Leonard fight ended in a draw.

Cooper was 1 of 3 opponents to put Ali on his butt.

    Anybody name the other 2?

As a Pro...and The "Bayonne Bleader" fight wasn't a Knockdown.

Smoking Joe is one of them as he floored Ali in the 1st fight in the 15th. Wepner was going to be my 2nd choice so I am stumped. Holmes and Berbick TKO’d Ali but neither knocked him down.

    Sonny Banks, 1962.

All 3 knockdowns were left hooks. The way Ali fought, he was prone to get hit by that punch.

Wepner stepped on Ali's foot and got him off balance...they ruled it a knockdown, but it wasn't.

Don't recall the third knockdown but I recall Norton breaking the Mouth's jaw.

Back to college football. According to linked article, Ward Manuel is in a bit of trouble at Michigan.

The University of Michigan's regents are expected to discuss an investigation into the culture of its athletic department on Thursday, sources told ESPN. As part of the review, a decision on the future of athletic director Warde Manuel is anticipated in the coming days.

Haha! After Michigan athletic program’s legal, ethical and NCAA problems the last 4 or 5 years, I would say it might be about time to change the boss.
