Wyndam Clark..shoots 60 to win. Another top 5 for Scottie. 3rd. Si Woo played well but couldn't hang with a 60.
Big Weekend in Golf. The Ladies are at Riviera for the US Open, and the Men are at Muirfield for Jack's Tournament. Scottie is the 2x defending champion.
Kind of interesting, #6 the par 3 at Riviera has that small bunker in the middle of the green and a few times Pro's have elected to chip over it from the green rahter than putt around it. The golf channel guys said that if a member or guest tried that they would be escorted off the property. Only allowed during a Pro tournament,
Another opening 18 by Scottie that is less than his best. He hit his tee ball on 16, a par 3, into the water. He chewed on his caddie all the way to the drop zone, then continued on the way to the green. where he made a 2 putt double bogey Wyndam Clark, JJ Spaun , Tommy Fleetwood and Ryan Gerard are the leaders at -5. Scottie is 2 over after the 16th and in a whining bad frame of mind.
Nelly Korda the Women's #1 didn't do better than Scottie. She's 2 over and 6 shots off the current leader SY Kim.
Sottie still 1 over par for the tourney, Makes the cut and is in the top 25 but certainly doesn't look like he can make it 3 in a row at the Memorial.
Solid round by Nellie Korda, 67, and is within 2 strokes of the lead going to the weekend. I Love watching golf on on Riviera Country Club.
I've been watching a lot of the Women's Open as it comes on later due to the time difference. Nellie Korda made up the strokes from her mediocre opening round of 73 and is now tied for the lead. Jacks tournament goy delayed by bad weather and Poston right now seems to be in charge, but that can change quickly. Scottie got his round in and has moved at least temporarily into the top 10. But he has no realistic chance of a 3 peat.
Didn't watch the men, the Ladies put on a heck of a show at Riviera with Nellie Korda making critical birdie putt on 17 of about 10 feet to take the lead. The all she had to do was par the 18th to win. She hit a perfect drive on 18 and a great 2nd shot to leave what seemed to be a certain 2 putt for the win. She made a very nice long putt to just a little under 3ft and up hill...but she slightly pulled her putt and it caught the edge and then went around the hole before dropping in for the win.
Btw, you know what kind of putt that was?...around these parts we call it a Dolly Parton putt...because it used All the Cup.
