Irish baseball swept their last home series with Oakland and the sot at 27-20 for the season. Not sure where the program goes from here.
I've been following the program closely all season because of the presence of the son of my son's and my friend (Noah Coy SS). I believe it's on the rise but won't go higher until the pitching drastically improves. The position players are solid and highly competitive with good depth from freshmen and sophomores. We can hit and run with anyone, even the top ACC teams. Our pitching depth and reliability - either starting (except for Jack Radel) or relief - is not up to ACC competitive standards. Hopefully, it can improve through a combination of recruiting and the portal. Until then, we'll continue to win more than we lose, but we won't be tournament worthy, either ACC or post-season. Just my opinion.
The Notre Dame Fighting Irish look to make a gigantic recruiting splash this week, and it all starts with an actual giant. During an announcement ceremony, 5-Star OL Oluwasemilore Olubobola gave his commitment to Notre Dame and its 2027 football recruiting class. Olu chose the Irish over his other two finalists, the Miami Hurricanes and the Texas A&M Aggies. He held other offers from all over the country including; the Florida Gators, Michigan Wolverines, Ohio State Buckeyes, and many more. Nuce!
Recruiting is going well for the Irish that's for sure. It's being reported there will be a couple of more kids added this week.
The interesting thing, and I'm sure it's the same at Ohio State. There is a budget and some of the 5 star kids are demanding and getting huge amounts of money and sometimes signing one of those guys means you have to pass of some other players who are also wanting a lot of money.
Freeman doesn’t seem to have the same problem Kelly had with shopping down the same isles as other big-time programs.
Baseball beat Pitt 6-4 in 10 innings to tie the final series of the season 1-1. Of the 9 players in the batting lineup there were 5 sophomores, 2 Freshmen, 1 Junior, and one Grad Transfer student. The 3 pinch runners used in the game are all freshmen. Offensively, the future looks promising.
Baseball scored 3 TDs to beat Pitt in 7 innings and win the final regular season series 2 games to 1. We hit 7 HR. Our record now stands at 30-21. When I wrote a while back that I didn't think we'd make the ACC tournament, I didn't know that everyone makes it. We're the 11 seed (11th place finish out of 16 teams). Subject to final pairings, it looks like we'll play 14 seed Cal in the first round on Tuesday. If we should win, we'd play 6 seed Miami in the second round. It's single elimination.
2nd ranked ND Lacrosse will meet Syracuse in the Semifinals. Once again the Irish make the Final Four.
We beat Syracuse at home late in the season. Hopefully we can do it again!! Some say this team is a year away, that the young talent coming back will be true championship team. What the heck hopefully they win it a year early!!
I guess we do have some talent on the baseball team...at least at catcher! WICHITA, Kan. – Notre Dame catcher Mark Quatrani was named as a semifinalist for the 2026 Buster Posey Collegiate Catcher of the Year. Quatrani is one of 16 catchers named to the 2026 semifinalist list for the nation’s best catcher award by the Wichita Sports Commission. Through the conclusion of the regular season, Quatrani posted a .373 batting average with 76 hits, 64 RBI, 51 runs and 24 walks. He had 25 extra-base hits during the 2026 regular season – 10 doubles, one triple and 14 home runs – with a .637 slugging percentage and a 1.094 OPS. He has had 25 multi-hit games and 17 multi-RBI games this spring. He ranks among the national leaders in batting average, RBI, hits and slugging percentage in the 2026 season. Defensively, Quatrani has caught 14 runners trying to steal on the season. The finalist list for the award will be released on June 1. more Articles
He's a junior who could choose to enter the draft. Fingers crossed he stays but if not, a freshman from Chula Vista, CA, Shane Miranda, is ready to don the tools of ignorance. This season, in 36 official AB +9 BB + 1 HBP, he hit .444 with 11 RBI.
Well I was surprised we (ND Baseball) made the ACC Tournament, then Sid informed me everybody makes it! So now I am merely surprised we won our 1st round game vs Clemson 5-4.
