Scottie going the wrong direction, he's +2 today and is now outside the top 25. Berger still leading by 5 strokes at -13.
That was hard to watch. Lead for 71 holes. Then bad drive, bad drive while Bhatia hit the fairway and made 2 good iron shots. He earned the win for sure, but as you said, Berger choked.
This week is The Players, at Sawgrass which is a course I've played and I hit the green on #17 and made par!!! It's going to be a great field and Sawgrass is a great course. Looking forward to it.
Scottie off to another slow start. He's finished in the top 50 in the 1st round going even. But he's 5 shots back, which isn't insurmountable for him. But it's bound to be a bit troubling that he can't have a great 1st round. 5 guys are tied at -5 none of whom are amongst the big names. I have watched several balls go in the water today, that back left pin placement is close to where it was when I played.
Well Scottie made the cut, on the number, to keep his streak alive but that's about all you could say. The guy who took control today was Ludwig Aberg, who dropped a 63 on the field and has a 2 shot lead. Some great golf was played. JT had another good day and while I'm not thinking he's gong to win he's in the mix.
Always one of my favorite tournaments. Great field and just like Augusta you know every hole. Weather should be nice on Sat. and iffy on Sun. Looked like for a while at least Koepka was getting his game back. Crowd seem quiet when he holes out birdies. Guess there's still some resentment. Nice to see Fowler at least making the cut. (of course he's on one of my fantasy teams.)
Didn't watch today but Aberg increased his lead to 3 and Scottie had a great round at -5 and with another good round tomorrow will likely have a top 25 tourney. A couple of guys had really good rounds and moved up quite a bit but not really into the mix.
Final day, last group, pressure got to Aberg..he's +3 for today and now 2 shots back of Fitzpatrick and Cam Young who have had a -4 and a -3 to get to -12 tied for the lead
