Things have changed so much in College football that I didn’t realize it was national signing day this week. Not that it matters but I see we finished with the number 2 class.
Another, gritty but tough loss for the Irish Men this time to FSU. 82-79. A lot of the online crowd feel that Shrewsberry should be fired at the end of the season. With the loss the Irish drop to 2-9 in ACC play and 11-13 overall. Pretty good chance we'll finish with the worst record in the ACC and not even make the ACC tournament.
Watched the Irish women lose to UVA on the road. They have a lot of height on their front line and we don't, so they were able to almost completely shut os out of the paint. We turned the ball over more than we usually do and they got points off the turnovers. As I've said before beyond Hannah we have a lot of nice players but not the consistent help for her. Also as much as Hidalgo scores on drives and at the foul line, she just stinks as a 3 point shooter this year. If she could shoot the 3, even like she did the first 2 years it would make a huge difference in some of our losses. We have some tough games left, the gurus rate our schedule as the toughest remaining schedule in the ACC. We need to win 4 games of the remaining 6. We have to play well to do that.
Another rough loss for the Irish tonight at SMU, we played well in spurts and covered the spread but we just don't have the talent to be better than mediocre. Will we win another game this year? On the other hand the Irish Men's and Women's teams will open the 2026-27 season in Rome vs Villanova in a double header. No doubt Pope Leo will be in attendance. Holy hoops! Villanova and Notre Dame finalizing plans to tip 2026-27 college basketball season in Rome, Italy
Any info here on this acquisition Sid, Terry Gipper via the portal? Diomede, a native of Glen Ellyn, Illinois, joins the program after three seasons with the Fighting Irish. His arrival addresses a specific need for Ohio State: competition and reliability in the kicking game. It's another sign that the Scarlet and Gray will place greater emphasis on special teams this fall, following multiple issues in that department in recent seasons. During his time in South Bend, Diomede primarily served as a kickoff specialist. In the 2025 season, he handled kickoff duties in multiple games, recording 16 kickoffs, totalling 1,088 yards and 11 touchbacks. His ability to drive the ball deep — averaging nearly 65 yards per kickoff — was a bright spot in his limited opportunities on the field.
Don I wouldn't be too excited about getting him. We had basically no kicker we could count on for a FG . If he had been even average he would have been the guy but he wasn't.
Battle for last place in the ACC today when the Irish take on Ga. Tech, both 2-10 in conference play. Should be a doozy!
OK so the Irish are finally out of last place after a nice win over Ga.Tech at home. Cole Certa had the game of his life hitting 7 3's and going for 37 points. Final score was 89-74. I wish I could say this is a picture of the future, but Ga. Tech isn't a good team, but still happy for the nice win.
From an article on MSN. One thing for sure, college football staffs have gotten very big. Notre Dame football made some coaching news this weekend, including adding a former Auburn and Indiana running back Shaun Shivers as their assistant wide receivers coach. Shivers, a native of Florida, had accepted the position as running backs coach with Florida State earlier this offseason, but is now heading to coach under head coach Marcus Freeman and the Fighting Irish. On paper, this is a really interesting young coach whose future appears very bright.
