Things have changed so much in College football that I didn’t realize it was national signing day this week. Not that it matters but I see we finished with the number 2 class.
Another, gritty but tough loss for the Irish Men this time to FSU. 82-79. A lot of the online crowd feel that Shrewsberry should be fired at the end of the season. With the loss the Irish drop to 2-9 in ACC play and 11-13 overall. Pretty good chance we'll finish with the worst record in the ACC and not even make the ACC tournament.
Watched the Irish women lose to UVA on the road. They have a lot of height on their front line and we don't, so they were able to almost completely shut os out of the paint. We turned the ball over more than we usually do and they got points off the turnovers. As I've said before beyond Hannah we have a lot of nice players but not the consistent help for her. Also as much as Hidalgo scores on drives and at the foul line, she just stinks as a 3 point shooter this year. If she could shoot the 3, even like she did the first 2 years it would make a huge difference in some of our losses. We have some tough games left, the gurus rate our schedule as the toughest remaining schedule in the ACC. We need to win 4 games of the remaining 6. We have to play well to do that.
Another rough loss for the Irish tonight at SMU, we played well in spurts and covered the spread but we just don't have the talent to be better than mediocre. Will we win another game this year? On the other hand the Irish Men's and Women's teams will open the 2026-27 season in Rome vs Villanova in a double header. No doubt Pope Leo will be in attendance. Holy hoops!
