Well if I'm right that the primary purpose was to get a check, what better way of insuring that one team will make it to the next round than having them play each other. Then of course setting one up with Tulane and then playing anther conference team on a bye, practically guaranteed one got to the semifinals. That's 3 first round checks, three second round checks and a third round check.

Or arrange it so none of the teams from one conference have to play each other and then you have a chance to have 3 teams in the final four. Ohio State messed that up.

Riley Leonard looked like a starting NFL QB in his rookie debut as the starter for the Colts. He guided them to a 30-point almost-win at Houston, but their defense enabled them to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.

Riley had a good game , a couple of his runs were classic 2024 Riley Leonard in Blue and Gold.

I hope he finds success in the NFL.

Irish Women were beaten today at Duke. We might have a problem staying in the top 25 this year.

Wow there is so much unhappiness with ND Coaches. Both BB coaches have come under fire with the way the season has gone so far and ND football fans are in general unhappy with how Freeman has handled the Portal so far.

I still feel that we should have been in the playoffs, but the stupid rules about Conference Champions including all of the non-power 4 conferences is what kept us out of the playoffs. We were one of the 12 best teams.

How would we have done? Who knows maybe we'd have gotten our asses kicked. We'll never know.

As I understand next year's rule change for selection, if we're in the top 12, we're in. If I'm wrong, please correct me. The key is controlling our own destiny, which we didn't do. By losing our first 2 games this year, we left it in someone else's hands. I have no problem at all with the teams chosen. Miami has shown it belongs. It's how it happened that bothers me. In the end, you guys are correct when you say, we'll never know. One more thing: Go Hoosiers! ;)

That was quite a blowout last night by the Hoosiers. Two successive losses in the playoffs has to have the Ducks wondering what has happened?

Irish women welcome UNC today at noon. I'm not hopeful for a win, but it would sure be nice.

The teams that get into the playoffs are the ones selected by the committee except those conference winners who get automatic inviets like Tulane. Technically even an undefeated ND team would not have control of its destiny.

Well the Irish Women took the #22 UNC Tar Heels to school today, an easy 23 point win. Our defense was great the whole game and our offense really got going in the 2nd half. If we were better at making chippies we'd have beat them even worse.

Two very very tough games coming up, next is Louisville and that is followed by one of the great UCONN teams. Yikes.

In other news an assistant High School Wrestling coach has filed an complaint against Coach Freeman.alleging Battery. The University has issued a strong statement supporting Coach Freeman.

    From the SBT article.

    https://www.southbendtribune.com/st...e-investigation-report-mishawaka/88131140007/

The altercation allegedly took place after Vinny Freeman’s match against Hanover Central senior Israel Sinnott, which Vinny lost. As Vinny was escorted off the mat and out of the gym by Marcus and Penn head coach Brad Harper, Fleeger allegedly began exchanging words with the group.

As Marcus Freeman walked through the doorway into the hallway, claims of physical contact allegedly occurred between Marcus Freeman and Fleeger, but police did not disclose the extent of the alleged contact. Once in the hallway, Fleeger and Marcus Freeman’s wife, Joanna, engaged in a shouting match before local law enforcement and Mishawaka school officials separated the two groups.

This is the response from ND.

"Vinny Freeman, head coach Marcus Freeman's son, was verbally accosted during and after his wrestling match by a local wrestling coach," the statement read. "Marcus and Joanna Freeman intervened and removed Vinny from the situation. At no point did Coach Freeman physically engage with anyone. We believe that the police report, which includes video evidence, fully exonerates Coach Freeman and makes clear these accusations are unfounded."

Irish portal game is finally getting some results.

Colorado CB DJ McKinney ...Irish need depth here badly.
Alabama Edge Keon Keely ...Irish need DL's Keely was at one time a commit to ND but flipped to the Tide.
Ohio State WR Quincy Porter..Another big need, Porter didn't play much as a freshman for the Buckeyes but was a 5 star recruit. I've seen some comments that Porter has had knee surgery or needs it. Could be he won't practice this Spring.

Michigan CB Jayden Sanders. Was a freshman in 2025

In the past we have nearly 100% only taken Grad Transfers. But we are seeing that change with this class of portals.

From what I've read on Sanders, he played a lot as a Freshman at UM. So not sure why he went to the Portal. Usually it's playing time or money or both. But it's hard to imagine playing time was an issue for him, and money? UM has deep pockets.

I hope he's a great player for the Irish
