Interesting. Johnson's commitment to ND was relatively low profile in Fort Wayne. I keep in touch with FW high school sports, having lived there for 35 years. His team was so-so, which led to his offensive accomplishments on the field being unextraordinary according to the media coverage of HS football. He must have also played defense. The ND coaches, for reasons known only to them, saw him as a DB. They were right!
Irish men handled Evansville as expected 82-58, behind the coaches son going unconscious from 3 pt land. He was 8-10 and score 26 points. Sir Mohammed had his best game as player with 22 points. He was a top 100 recruit who was injured a lot as a freshman, if he's now rounding into shape that is very big for the Irish. Jalen Haralson didn't play as well as he has recently. He missed a lot of chippies early on and got some fouls and sat on the bench a lot as Mohammed filled his slot very well. Cole Certa was very quiet after being one of the stars in the last few wins. He hardly bothered to even attempt a shot. Team is off next week before playing Purdue-FW on the 21st.
If the ACC goes kaput what the heck happens to the 17 teams that play football in the ACC? If they go away, it has to be because we have gone to a NFL style super league. And even if that happens the ACC teams not in the super league will still play football. Not to mention all the non-football sports will need a conference.
Irish women got a solid road win vs Football Powerhouse JMU. 78-65 We got off to a good start and had them down by 13 after 1 qtr. After that they played us pretty much even. Hannah Hidalgo was only 2-10 from the field and that hurt the offense. The upcoming week is finals and the end of the semester so no games for either men or women till the following week.
Well after feeling so lousy the last couple of weeks after my surgery I see we have commits for the 2027 class from two of the best DBs in the country. Makes me feel a little better.
I said it before and I’ll say it again, whatever it takes, we need to make sure Mike Mickens stays in South Bend. What a recruiter and coach!!!
Irish are likely to have multiple coaches leave for "better" jobs and also you can bet that there will be roster changes due to kids going into or coming from the Portal in addition to those leaving for the NFL
Other than Minchey, none of these players would be contributors next season....ergo why they hit the Portal NAME POSITION GRAD NEW SCHOOL Taebron Bennie-Powell S Undergrad Kenny Minchey QB Undergrad Gi’Bran Payne RB Grad Anthony Rezac QB Undergrad Chance Tucker CB Grad There will be more to come, from what I'm hearing there will be some OL leaving who have eligibility left and would be good to have back. Some ealry to the NFL and some looking for more $$$ in the Portal.
Good Luck to him, wish he were staying 1 more year but he has his degree and has accomplished quite a lot in his time at Notre Dame. Notre Dame offensive lineman Aamil Wagner will head to the NFL as he’s officially declared for the 2026 Draft. The 6-foot-6, 300-pounder played in 35 career games for the Irish and started the last 28 games. Wagner was named captain in 2025 after helping lead Notre Dame to the National Title game in 2024. In 2025, Wagner helped lead Notre Dame’s offense to new heights as the Irish finished No. 5 in scoring offense, No. 10 in passing yards, No. 18 in total offense and No. 18 in rushing offense. Off the field, Wagner graduated with a degree in strategic management and is pursuing a master’s in nonprofit administration, while also being the president of the Notre Dame chapter of Uplifting Athletes. Wagner was also a finalist for the Jason Witten Collegiate Man of the Year, a semifinalist for the William V. Campbell Trophy and a semifinalist for the Wuerffel Trophy.
Irish Basketball back in action today, men early vs Purdue-FW. Should be a win and the Women's team late vs Bellamarine another tune up win. ACC Schedule starts after these games.
After watching the A&M/Miami game and all the missed FGs I realized we are definitely not the only team with kicking problems
My opinion, he's a winner. If Carr had gotten injured, I would have been happy to have him step in. If it works out, I believe he'll be an asset for your program. Good luck with the decision.
