Man the coaching moves are getting weird. I guess Billy Donavan ran Smith out of the SEC. But to quit at Kentucky to take the job at Minnesota, that's just odd. What next Sid gives up on the Cubs and becomes a Cardinals fan?
These coaching changes are wierd! Per the story on ESPN, the following coaches are prime canidates: Marquette coach Tom Crean, Michigan State's Tom Izzo, Memphis coach John Calipari, Gonzaga's Mark Few and Notre Dame's Mike Brey are expected to be candidates for what is one of the few premier jobs in men's college basketball. Don
I can't imagine Mike Brey and Kentucky in the same sentence. I like Coach Brey and I hope he stays and has another 10-15 years that we are all happy about. But with all of these openings he'll probably get an offer some place, just not Kentucky. Terry
LOL! I've always been a Cards fan along with the Cubs and Reds. But the Cubs come first. My earliest idol as a kid was Stan the Man. Being a lefty I imitated his crouched stance. I also imitated the stance of my other childhood idol, Ernie Banks, with my rear elbow high. Those were the days. So Terry you might try another unlikely scenario, like when pigs fly or something similar.
This makes me VERY nervous. For the last half of the season there have been rumblings that "unofficial" sources from Kentucky were trying to contact Billy G to see if he would be interested. The thought being that if he was, they would show Tubby the door, and move BCG in with no chance of an embarassing search to suffer through. I had not really worried about it because I couldn't imagine them being able to fire Tubby after he made the second round of the tourney yet again. I never really considered that Tubby would grow tired of KU's bullsh!t, which is what I suspect happened. This is NOT good. Please let it be Crean!!
Below is an excerpt from a lengthy column written by SI's Pat Forde and posted on today's ESPN website. It's interesting speculation, but I don't believe it has a snowball's chance in Key West of happening. I find it hard to fathom that Florida only sold out one home game. Maybe the writer is referring only to noconference games. That would make more sense.
Bill, in another part of the column which I did not quote, the writer describes himself as a KY resident and a KY fan. IMO it's his wishful thinking about getting the best available coach in the game, and it would appear that person is Billy Donovan.
