Gators a longshot but are at least on the list CFP 2025: 32 teams can make the College Football Playoff
That's one huge difference between Pro playoffs and college. All that matters is your record. It doesn't matter who or when you lost.
Yeah also there are only 32 teams to worry about and 14 of them make the playoffs. That would be the equivalent of about 50 college teams in a playoff.
I don't know KP, the current CFP top 25 has a bunch of exceptions to that. We have 2 loss teams ranked ahead of 1 loss teams and in some cases 3 loss teams ranked ahead of 1 and 2 loss teams. Seems to me that wouldn't happen if they were only looking at losses, gotta be additional factors they are considering
Out of the top 15, BYU is the only exception. It’s unlikely that someone outside of the top 15 will be in the CFP unless it’s like last year. Clemson, SMU and someone else made it because they either won or played in their conference championship game.
That's certainly one exception so they obviously do look at other factors but there are other teams that could very well factor into the mix with several games left remaining on the schedule. Pretty sure our mutual friend BobDa would agree
I guess BYU is the exception because their SOR is so high. With 12 slots, 5 slots automatically go to the 5 highest ranked conference champions. Now assuming the committee repeats its intentions to not punish a team for losing a conference championship game, that means up to 10 of the 12 slots can be taken before anyone else is considered. In any case, 5 slots go to the 5 highest ranked conference champions and the other 7 are supposed to go to the highest ranked teams after that. Teams ranked higher than #15 will certainly be long shot, but I guess there is always hope. Last year, we were ranked #11 and didn’t make it.
