Irish win 37-15, Pitt got a TD as the clock went to zero. Solid win by the Irish, defense played very well and offense had some good moments as well. Carr threw 2 picks, one was a pick 6. Love went for 147 yds vs the #1 defense against the run. Our kicker made all the xp's but missed his only FG attempt. Go Irish.
Defense was great! Pitt had home field, Gameday, Aaaron Donald, Tony Dorsett, hottest offense in the country etc, etc, etc. and ND still beat them badly.
Very good effort by the team today. It's hard to believe that this is the same defense that gave up 98 pts. in the first 3 games. Fields was spectacular showcasing what should be a future pro career. The O line keeps holding up despite some bad injuries. Senior Day v Syracuse a trip to the coast and hopefully the playoffs. We need to stay healthy.
Irish women were embarrassed by Michigan this afternoon. 40 point beat down. This is likely going to be a tough season for the Irish women.
Irish Women's Soccer takes UIC down 4-0 in it's first round NCAA game. Next up will be Ohio State who beat Georgia today.
I watched the segment of the broadcast yesterday with Tony Dorsett and felt somewhat sad as his mental status is obviously not 100%. I’m not trying to be rude or harsh but he is 71 and I’m 73 and although my memory and thought train is nowhere near 100%, his years of football seem to have caught up to him. Not sure I would put him these types of positions. He was a great player and still is an awesome person though.
He's one or 2 opposing players that I will always remember as Irish killers. The other was QB Mike Phipps of Purdue. I think that the 2 beat us 7 times.
We’ll have to see what CFP committee says on Tuesday. If we are still 9 snd we’ll have to see what plays out with the teams ranked above ND. I’m pretty sure there will be some losses to those teams so we just need to keep winning.
Some good news for Irish fans on the recruiting front. Unlike the previous coach, Freeman personally cares about it and works at it, the results show it. Rivals just released their updated(final?) rankings for the top 300 high school recruits in the 2026 class. Notre Dame has six of the top 30. No other school has more than three. Those are: #9 - Grayson McKeogh (#3 OT) #10 - Rodney Dunham (#3 DE/OLB) #23 - Khary Adams (#2 CB) #25 - Joey O'Brien (#1 S) #27 - Ian Premer (#1 TE) #28 - Ebenezer Ewetade (#7 DE/OLB) There are 16 total ND commits in their top 300. ND will sign it's first top 5 class in a long time. 2027 is off to a great start and might be an even better class. Freeman and co are improving the overall talent in the program every year.
Men's Basketball gets a bit of a break after Ohio State, Bellarmine is the midweek game in South Bend before heading to Las Vegas over Thanksgiving where Kansas awaits, as well as Rutgers. No break for women's basketball, next up is a very good USC team.
Irish open as huge favorites over Syracuse, not surprising. Freeman needs to put the hammer down and make sure he covers by the 3rd qtr. Then he can pull some players. It's Senior Day.
I'm seeing that Syracuse will start a walk-on at QB. From a poster on another board. Who came to Syracuse to play lacrosse. Joseph Filardi He was a pretty good QB in high school, he holds the Long Island single-season passing touchdowns record with 44. But Long Island is not known for its football and his high school played in one of the lower divisions as well. Filardi sounds like a poor mans Jack Coan (not playing ability, just as a QB from LI whose best sport is probably lacrosse). But both played against similar competition.
