Well after that remark I don’t have any respect for him either. BYU tried to be an Independent but it didn’t work for them as they need a conference to have a chance at getting into the playoffs. That day may come for ND but not now. He needs to do a little history study and figure out why ND wants to be Independent. As long as there is a viable path for the Irish to make the playoffs they will stay that way.
About Joey the Ahole, perhaps he doesn't know that ND plays 6 conference games with the ACC every year and conference play doesn't seem that difficult for us since we hold the record for most consecutive conference wins. He plays in a conference that's seen, Texas, Ok. and Neb say adios. Guess that they left it to the dregs.
Irish Basketball, both men and women, continue their "buy" game schedule this week with the men welcoming E.Illinois to the Joyce and the women bringing in Akron. Both should be wins and we hope they will be wins, but as we all know you still have to go out and earn them. So far the ND women have played with a short bench, partly due to a couple of players who expect to be in the rotation not being available and partly because coach feels she has so many new players/starters that she want the to play a lot and develop their chemistry. The men on the other hand and been playing 11 or 12 guys in both of their games. The Irish women's soccer was seeded #1 in their region and will open at home this week vs Univ of Illinois-Chicago.
More comments about ND not being a "conference" game. This from the Pitt coach. Narduzzi on whether ND is a "must win game" for Pitt: "Absolutely not. It is not an ACC game. I'm glad you brought that up. It's not an ACC game. I'd gladly get beat 103 or 110-10 in that game. They could put 100 up on us as long as we win the next two after that."
FWIW BYU has been a member of one conference or another for all but 11 years of their more than a 100 years of playing college football. On September 1, 2010, BYU announced it would begin competition as a football independent starting in the 2011 season, primarily due to years of frustration with the lack of TV coverage in the Mountain West Conference and the University of Utah's departure for the Pac-12 Conference. That same day, BYU announced an 8-year contract with ESPN in which 11 games would be broadcast on one of the ESPN networks and BYU would retain the rights to utilize its on-campus broadcasting facilities and nationally syndicated station. The Cougars were reportedly considered for invitations by the Big XII Conference and former Big East Conference for all sports during this period, but neither opted to add BYU.
OK so I went and watched his whole press conference and that quote that is being passed around on ND boards is a bit out of context. His whole press conference was how great ND was, America's team, Love and Price the best duo in America, CJ Carr outstanding, Fields (WR) awesome, defense loaded, Marcus Freeman great college player and a great coach, he went on and on. I thought he was going to say the momma's and poppa's of the players were great. In the Q&A a reporter asked him about the fact that ND in their last 2 games was 110-13 or something like that over Pitt. He said that was the past, Sat is all that matters. They asked him if it was a Rivalry game, he said sort of and that almost everybody who plays ND considers it a Rivalry. Then somebody asked him that question about if it was a must win and he made that statement. The truth is that no non-conference game matters in the ACC standings and his goal is to win the ACC. I thought he over did the praise of ND, so much so that to me it wasn't really sincere. If you have 15 minutes to waste watch it.
What a difference. For ND every game is important, because we're independant. Can't brush off some games as being non conference.
