Buckeyes did not look real great today, but a road in is always welcomed. I do question the pay calling when our run game is not real solid at this point, we still continued to try and push the short run game and the Illini continued to beat us to the ground. Sayin was not as successful today, but still managed to win the game.
Northwestern beats PSU by 1. Does that bolster the Big 10 sucks crowd or my statement that lots of teams in B10 can play with anyone?
I don't know what's wrong with PSU, it appears that they might have quit on Franklin. They are certainly way more talented than ;their record shows.
When you can cover the spread on the road against a ranked opponent while not playing your best is a great and wonderful thing. Seems like we're in a good place....lots to celebrate and build on and lots to continue to improve upon
Don…Don…Don, “Not looking good” is how one could fairly describe Michigan’s performance at USC as opposed to the #1 team thumping a ranked Illini in Champagne. The KP impersonators on SB are becoming as good as the real one when it comes to understating just how good there team is.
Haha, Don (Lou Jr?) I understand where you’re coming from. I watch the Alabama games very closely. When an unranked team came out and dominated us on their first drive, I wondered how could we allow that to happen? Or when an unranked team was able to run for a hundred yards against us, what would happen in the Conference Championship game? The final score didn’t matter. The fact that they ran the ball down our throats meant we had major problem, at least in my mind. I think our coach probably felt the same way, that’s why he won so much.
Just heard this stat today, over the last 20 years our record in W. Lafayette is 3-4! Stu's gotta be feeling pretty good?!?!
Yeah, right. First of all it is extremely unlikely for Purdue to prevail or even trouble the Buckeyes. Second of all. I don't want anything to happen to OSU's chances of finishing on top of the heap. Thirdly, I always want the Boilers to show up and play well and don't like them getting crushed. It's always a very crappy week for me.
Ohio State to Honor Men’s Basketball Legend Jerry Lucas with Statue Outside Value City Arena | Eleven Warriors Long overdue in my mind. I think we forget how good Lucas really was. One of the few guys with a gold medal, NCAA title and NBA title. The first Buckeye hero that I could remember. Along with Havlicek, led the Buckeyes to three consecutive NCAA Finals, winning one and losing back-back to Cincy. The beginning but not the end of the bad blood between us and UC. In the NBA he was a part of those great Knick teams with Willis Reed, Walt Frazier, DeBusschere, etc. In the history of the NBA, there are only 4 times a player (not named Chamberlain) averaged 20 points and 20 rebounds in the same season. Lucas did it twice. Nate Thurmond and Bob Petit were the others. Prolific rebounder once had 30 rebounds against Kentucky in the NCAA tourney. Perhaps better known by the younger generation for his memory coaching/books etc. Once memorized 50 pages of the Manhattan phone book as a "party trick" - e.g., if you gave him an address, he'd tell you the name and phone number!!!! Crazy....still with us at 85, happy to see him get a statue, well deserved
If I recall correctly, those three OSU-Cincy finals were '60-'62. They were the start of my interest in college BB. I loved the Ohio State team vs. California and Lucas specifically, but I also liked Cincy because of Oscar, who I don't think was on all three Cincy finals teams, including the '63 finals vs. Jerry Harkness-led Loyola of Chicago. Back to Ohio State, Lucas and Havlicek had great NBA careers, and a Buckeye sub on those teams went on to a "decent" coaching career, Bobby Knight. I remember Lucas having a photographic memory. Does that make me part of the "younger" generation?
