Your mother was definitely heroic! I cannot even imagine enduring watching four quarters of football with white out conditions and high winds while wearing 1950’s winter clothing.

My parents were at the Snow Bowl. They had been married for 1 year and just moved to Ohio. They moved from Xichigan where they both went to college and they were married on campus in Ann Arbor. They remained huge fans of you-know-who their entire life, though my Dad always rooted for OSU in other games. When Bo's boys dominated Woody's in 1976 I was attending OSU. Susie and I walked back to our apartment from the Shoe and the phone rang. (The days of land lines and collect calls)...the operator asked if I would accept a collect call from Maisy Blue...I knew it was Mom and I said "Hell No!" and hung up.

    Back to this week!

Longhorns get back to playing teams in it's weight class with a trip to the Swamp. Gators bound to be playing fast and loose with nothing to lose. Longhorns desperately need to win and look good doing it on the road.

Surprise of the weekend to me that Gameday will be in Tuscaloosa for the Vanderbilt/Alabama game. I'm betting the the Tide will roll Vandy. If they aren't ready for this game after last year, i don't know what to say.

Texas Tech vs Houston. Big game for the B12, both are undefeated and Tech has the higher priced roster so we'll see what happens.

Miami @ FSU First big road game for the Hurricanes, actually first road game of the season. FSU has to be stinging from last week's upset by UVA. Huge game for both teams.

Surprisingly good Miss State team goes to College Station to face the Top 5 undefeated Aggies. Can A&M handle success?

Not surprised at all that these conversations are happening but fail to see the benefits for the conferences. Just not sure what the PE firms bring to the table for the conference at large. Sure they bring capital but little else and by and large that is only a material benefit to the have-nots, hence the hesitancy on the part of the big boys and discussion surrounding "tiered benefits". I know Rutgers is struggling to keep up and Maryland has a big hole to fill and Penn State is spending $700 million on a stadium renovation. Not sure about the others but surely the less well-funded programs would be happy to see a big chunk of change upfront to help them regain their footing post-covid. My guess is that this will accelerate the "super conference" discussions....we shall see
