Most ridiculous rumour coming out of SEC Media Days. Former Alabama Crimson Tide quarterback Greg McElroy brought some of the rumors into the atmosphere during an interview on the "Mac and Cube" radio show in Birmingham. "A very much in-the-know person that I have a lot of respect for and have spent a lot of time around and just really, really admire, they seem to think Nick Saban is not done coaching," McElroy said. "He’s pretty adamant that he thinks Nick Saban will be coaching again." McElroy did say he believed, personally, Saban was finished during an appearance on ESPN. "I’d be shocked (if he came back). … There are people connected to the sports world that think he’s not done. Now, interpret that however you will. People that would be somewhat knowledgeable about something like this, yes," he said.
I’ve been reading these rumors for the last couple of days. It would surprise me if Saban did return to coaching at his age and with the changes that are taking place in college football. He is apparently in good health though. There are also a lot of stories going around about how he is enjoying having more time with his family so I don’t know. Stranger things have happened.
You remember the Blue Chip Ratio, right? It says that unless your ratio of 4 and 5 star athletes on your roster is more than 50% you can't win the Nat'l Championship. Last year Ohio State was 90%. This year the top 2 teams are Ohio State and Alabama at 89%. Here's a link to the article on it. FWIW the Irish are at 73% in the top 10. Blue-Chip Ratio 2025: These 18 college football teams can actually win the national championship
Saban’s daughter, who apparently has a podcast or a fairly large media presence, says Saban is definitely not coming back to coaching.
As we approach the final week of July, many teams will be starting the practice grind shortly. My Buckeyes will open practice on this coming Thursday. only a month to go before we will resume the coming season games. Always look forward to this time of the year.
Texas at Ohio State is the premier game of the early season Don. With Arch Manning leading the Longhorns the media frenzy will be huge.
Agree Terry, we supposedly enjoyed a three point margin being at home. I read recently the people betting on the game are leaning towards Texas. I am anxious to see how Arch fares in his first game as a starter. Definitely looking forward to the game win or lose!
Not sure what chance we have with all our good players off to the NFL and two newbie coordinators facing perhaps the finest QB ever to play but I hope we can keep it close. We'd have a better shot if it was a night game but I hear the Texas AD declined as he was concerned about getting to church on time
Terry, kp currently holds the title of "Skybox Lou Holtz", but we're going to have to create a new title, "Skybox Sarcastic Lou Holtz". Getting to church on time. LOL!
Say it ain't so! Et tu Sid! I speak the truth...AD Del Conte, here in his own words "That was it, but you know, the craziness is 'Oh my God, they said no.' I just said no to Sunday. I gotta go to church. I mean, hot dang." Texas AD clarifies OSU proposal, rebuts NIL total TOK, hard to believe that game was 20 years ago!!!
Can't say I'm a fan of Deion's but I hate to see him have to quit for health reasons. *Rumors are swirling in the College football world that Deion Sanders will resign as head coach of the Colorado Buffaloes. A press conference is set for July 28 at 10 a.m. MT, where Sanders will appear with his medical team. The unusual inclusion of doctors has fans and insiders believing that Sanders may cite health issues as his reason for stepping down.
According to what has transpired, he says that his cancerous bladder ws removed and he is cancer free. Good for him! Looks like he will continue coaching for the Buffaloes!
