I hope the Badgers win this case. Too much tampering going on right now in all of college sports.

The University of Wisconsin filed a lawsuit Friday claiming Miami's football team broke the law by tampering with a Badgers player, a first-of-its-kind legal attempt to enforce the terms of a financial contract between a football player and his school.

The lawsuit refers to the athlete in question as "Student Athlete A," but details from the complaint line up with the offseason transfer of freshman defensive back Xavier Lucas. Lucas left Wisconsin and enrolled at Miami in January after saying the Badgers staff refused to enter his name in the transfer portal last December.

In the complaint filed Friday, Wisconsin claims that a Miami staff member and a prominent alumnus met with Lucas and his family at a relative's home in Florida and offered him money to transfer shortly after Lucas signed a two-year contract last December. The lawsuit states that Miami committed tortious interference by knowingly compelling a player to break the terms of his deal with the Badgers.

Not that kids changing their minds hasn't been happening for a long time, but it's just different now. More than ever it's about the money and if they can get a better deal, they'll flip.

Four-star wide receiver Vance Spafford, the longest-tenured member of Georgia's 2026 recruiting class, has flipped his commitment to Miami, sources told ESPN on Monday.

Spafford, No. 96 in the 2026 ESPN 300, had been pledged to the Bulldogs since Nov. 5, 2024, and recently took an official visit with the program on the weekend of June 13. But the 5-foot-10 pass catcher from Mission Viejo, California, has long been viewed as a likely flip candidate this spring. He took visits to Washington and UCLA earlier this month and courted interest from the likes of Miami and USC before sealing his pledge with the Hurricanes.

Not exactly the old Pac12, and maybe they need to rename it to the Pac8...but they are going forward and have a media deal. The lineup is very Mountain Westish, IMHO.

The Pac-12 has finalized an agreement with CBS Sports to extend their media partnership through the 2030-31 season, the conference announced Monday.

As part of the deal, CBS will broadcast the conference's football and men's basketball championship game -- which will also be streamed on Paramount+ -- along with at least three regular-season football and men's basketball games each season. Additional regular-season games in both sports will be shown on the CBS Sports Network.

"Our goal with this process was to find transformational partnerships for the new Pac-12, and throughout our discussions and time together it became more and more clear that a partnership with CBS Sports would be just that," Pac-12 commissioner Teresa Gould said in a statement.

Rich Rod has 52 new players at West Virginia, Barry Odom has 50 new players at Purdue. Bill Belichick at UNC has a huge number of new players at UNC. FSU has completely retooled the roster.

Spurrier on Arch and Texas. He has a good point.

Most people (are) picking Texas to win the SEC (this year). They've got Arch Manning already winning the Heisman too. My question is: If he was this good, how come they let Quinn Ewers play all the time last year? And he was a 7th-round pick," Spurrier said on the "Another Dooley Noted Podcast" on June 23.

The latest NFL scores, schedules, odds, stats and more.
"You only have to ask Coach Sark how come you played that one instead of this one. Hopefully, he will say, because he was better than that one."

Steve Spurrier questions Arch Manning's expectations at Texas

I don't understand Spurrier's mindset. I thought that as a veteran coach he'd be smarter than to ask a question like that. Of course Ewers started and led the team because he was experienced and capable, and Manning was a freshman. Where he went in the draft is immaterial to his college performance. It's not rocket science, Coach.

I wonder where he'll end up, he's a good player but who wants a player who has the cloud of a Rape accusation hanging over his head?

BYU quarterback Jake Retzlaff is anticipating a seven-game suspension for violating the university’s honor code and is likely to leave the program, according to multiple reports on June 29.

The move stems from a civil lawsuit filed against Retzlaff in May, alleging that he sexually assaulted a woman at his home. The woman, who claims that Retzlaff "raped, strangled and bit" her, is suing Retzlaff for alleged battery, assault and intentional infliction of emotional distress, seeking damages of at least $300,000.

Retzlaff’s lawyers denied the allegations in a response to the lawsuit filed on June 28, describing them as “ridiculous and bizarre.”

As far as the above lawsuit, it's been dropped, with no chance of being filed again. Apparently the kid had a long friendly text exchange after the incident to make her case unwinable.

    He's still leaving BYU though.

LSU wants to put advertising on their jerseys. It's inevitable I guess, it's on every pro sports jersey out there.

Long way till December when football recruits sign on the dotted line, for at least a year at their chosen school!

Current rankings which will no doubt change.

    1. USC ...a surprise to me as Lincoln Riley hasn't exactly been a roaring success, but NIL money has a big impact no doubt.

    2. Georgia ..no surprise here as Kirby Smart has won big and recruited big as well.

    3. Texas A&M New coach who is working hard and no doubt has a lot to offer kids.

    4. Notre Dame ...Irish are doing well only thing is we don't have a top rated QB. And while WR recruiting is better we aren't getting the level of kids that Ohio State gets.

    5. Ohio State ...like Georgia a program that wins a lot and recruits well, esp at WR where they are bringing n another NFL 1st rounder in Chris Henry Jr.

    6. Clemson ...Dabo another coach who wins and recruits well.

    7. Michigan Michigan traditionally recruits well and this year no surprise. Bringin in another top rated QB following on the heels of 10M dollar QB Bryce Underwood in Brady Smigel.

    8. Miami They are spending like they have a money printing press.

    9. Alabama ...Last season was a disappointment but the staff is recruiting lights out, going for quality over quantity. They have less than 10 kids while the top schools have double that, but that will change and the Tide will rise.

    10. Texas Same story in Austin, have the #1 QB in Dia Bell and all of their kids are top rated but they like Alabama are going for quality right now not numbers. They will move up the rankings as they add more kids.

2026 recruiting class rankings: Alabama bursts into the top 10

As far as I could find only two teams had coaches who took them from 0 win seasons to undefeated 2 years later (in the modern era at least) In 1954 Texas A&M was 0-10. Two years later they were undefeated and won their conference championship. Scott Frost took a UCf team that in 2013 went 0-12 and 2 years later they went 13-0 and won their conference championship. Oh that aTm coach? A guy named Bear Bryant.

Well we'll have to wait a bit before we put Scott Frosts name on the same line as Bear Bryant!

He's doing to have a rough road at UCF now that they are in the B12, it's an extremely competitive league with a lot of parity now that OU and Texas have left.

Sark didn't actually say this but somebody speculated that he might be thinking this as SEC Media Days are upon us...:D:D:D:D

Let me get this straight: If we win the national championship, that means I screwed up by not starting Arch Manning last season? And if I don’t win the national championship, that means I’m the coach who couldn’t win a national championship with Arch Manning?
