Hannah has an off night shooting the ball, no problem Sonia and Olivia went a combined 50 points and Olivia hit 8 3's. It was a pretty physical game and the Irish front court picked up a lot of fouls. But a very solid 88-57 win for the ladies.
SOUTH BEND, Ind. – After a remarkable season for the Irish defense, former Bob Hinton Defensive Coordinator Al Golden has been named the winner of the 2024 Broyles Award, which honors college football’s top assistant coach. Golden Named Broyles Award Winner
Irish are reportedly set to hire Mike Martin, from the Detroit Lions as their GM. I don't know anything about him, but fom what I am reading it's a great hire. Notre Dame is finalizing a deal to hire Detroit Lions Director of Scouting Advancement Mike Martin as the school’s new general manager, per source. Martin was part of Detroit’s initial front office staff that helped rebuild the Lions’ roster. Now Notre Dame HC Marcus Freeman is pulling Martin away from Detroit to bring an NFL model to South Bend.
They are also looking to hire a "Director of Recruiting/Scouting, not sure who they are looking at but they are definitely beefing up that side of the staff.
Shrewsberry went on a rant to end his press conference. Not a good look for the coach and I hope our AD sits down with him about it.
Terry, I respectfully disagree with you. For me, this is a sign of a winner, maybe not now but headed that way. Every one of the many angst-filled so-called fans should see this. Of course, they won't see themselves. EDIT: After I posted, I went back and read the comments. Near unanimous support for him from folks who understood where the program was before he came in and that the turnaround doesn't happen overnight. Fortunately, there's a lot more of this kind of fan than the other.
I'm sorry, for the most part, they're unwatchable. I've tried. They're either getting blown out or giving up at 4 pt. play with a few seconds to go to lose a game. Sports is a form of entertainment. They're not entertaining (for ND fans)
Not sure about that Tim, it depends on how well Chris Ash does, if he does well I don't see him leaving anytime soon. So that means Mickens probably has to leave to be the DCoord. i'm a little surprised he didn't get the C0-Coord title. Bottom line I don't think Mickens is going to wait around 3 or more years hoping to get the job if Ash leaves.
Huge game tonight vs Duke for the Ladies. The Irish women just ascended to #1 in the AP poll. In Coach Ivey's time at ND she is 1-2 vs Duke. and we've lost 3 of the last 4. So this is going to be a very big game
Comments from the USC AD on the ND series. Sounds a bit like it might not survive. Lincoln has talked a lot about future nonconference scheduling. Everyone wants to know about the Notre Dame series. What’s the outlook for that rivalry? It’s such an important series to our fans and both universities. I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again: In an ideal world, we’re going to keep playing each other. With that being said, the landscape has changed dramatically. We’re now playing in a conference where we fly back and forth across the country every other week, and CFP expansion and how you get access to the CFP and how things are seeded and selected. Those, to me, are important, unanswered questions. So we remain in conversations with Notre Dame about the series. I think we’re clear to each other (that) we’re going to continue to evaluate what’s best, and it’s my job to evaluate what’s best for our student-athletes and our program. As we keep doing that, we’re excited to go back to South Bend next year.
After being bumped to #1, the ND women were set up for a loss to Duke. It was a 2-point game at halftime. ND blew it open in the 3rd quarter with a 17-1 run and kept the double digit lead to the end.
Looks like USC is following kp's blueprint for conference teams. With a meat grinder Big10 schedule and the CFP, why continue to schedule an up and coming ND? I knew that if the series ever ended, it would be because USC chickened out.
That was a solid gritty win for the Irish tonight vs Duke. They have a tough closing schedule but should be up to handling it. As we see there is a lot of parity in the women's game and it's not a given we will remain undefeated in the ACC. Still we are a very good team who has the talent to make the Final Four, but there are more than 4 other teams with equal or better talent.
He may have gotten a pay raise, but it's not been reported and no additional titles. I won't be shocked if he becomes the "Associate" Head Coach which is a pay raise type of title.
