    A brief comment, which I guess is most appropriate in this discussion. As a moderate/conservative Dem (an almost obsolete position), I thought at the time that he was the worst president of my lifetime for several reasons, which is why I voted for Reagan in 1980. After his presidency, he and his wife became great hands-on humanitarians, which earned my admiration. Rest in peace, Mr. Carter.

    He was the only Democrat I ever voted for , which I regretted later. Good man but terrible President.

    As you noted his post Presidency life was one of service.

    My first presidential election....I voted for Ford btw. Still can't believe I voted for a Xichigan man :eek:

    Pretty wells sums it up for me too. A very well intentioned man who was not equipped to handle the job he found himself in.
    He can rest in peace knowing he has been surpassed in the "terrible" category.
